The community is in a state right now where we can hardly agree on which Kandarin is the "right" Kandarin.

We've had threads arguing this for months. Do we really want to increase the problem by having a large vote right now?

If say, Matt stood up to take the guide, and Matt played casually in Vekon Ardougne, do you doubt for a minute people who hate Vekon Ardougne are going to sit down and say "Hey, screw Matt! He doesn't smell nice and he won't represent our interests!"

The opposite is also true. If Chunk stepped up for the guide, and he did stuff in Dan's Ardougne, wouldn't there be people saying "Chunk you quit, get out of here you filthy Worshipper, you won't represent my interests!"

A vote for who makes the guide is never going to please a supermajority. What we need is to vote on the contents of the guide as it is cleaned up, as this is something that people will undoubtably find more agreeable, and easier to agree on.

There's no neutral person in the community to chose, or believe me, I'd be suggesting a vote. But in theory, there never are neutral people. Stop worrying about creators, and worry about content.

Do we want a two page guide to rp in 42 and other communities? Do we want a 10 page guide detailing character creation and lore?

Do we want it to be blunt, and to the point, or a little flavourful and entertaining to read?

We all want whats best for the community, and we all want a guide we can refer new players to when they need help. Does it matter who makes it? No. Do our brains think it matters? Yes.

Well, even with all this I only have one thing to say.

It's already done. Complain and cry all we want but it can't change anything now. At this point it'll just serve to divide everything and do more harm then anything we can perceive from this.

Instead maybe we should have a discussion with Ridaku and talk to him about what we would like to see in this guide, hmm? I know it's so unheard of but we should put aside personal feelings (OMG WUT?!) and realize the guide was made by the community for the community. It's administrator is there to keep it organized and address what they feel needs to be changed with the community. If we don't want it to change they we simply say 'Leave it be.' Shouldn't be a problem if you're all as vocal as you are now with it.

Good lord people.

"Have a discussion with RiDaku"

Hmm excuse me but have you ever heard of 'Vile and are you aware of how long it took for RiDaku to accept he was overstepping boundaries and stop using characters like that?

By that logic, it still worked.

EDIT: And we're not dealing with a character. We're dealing with something for the community, which all parties recognize. They can't even be compared.

I'd appreciate the sentiment of wishing to collaborate in order to best help the new people who come here. New people, whom are desperately needed.

If most the people here didn't keep turning them away, be it through awful behavior or being awful roleplayers. But they do.

So I wish RiDaku would just be like me and shape the initial first impression in the way that he sees fit.

But it's out of my hands now! Hope your ideas don't hurt you further.

Considering Ridaku doesn't acknowledge the existence of the current Vekon rule, and the fact that I do not personally have a problem with him having his name next to the thread, I don't think your example was a very good one.

People have problems with the choice Faeyrin made, sure. But that isn't based on who he's friends with in the community, or what clique he sticks to. It's because of their opinions on him as a person, and how people perceive his actions, and because they think his ownership of the thread will have poor results, and not reflect their own ideals. I could go on, but I think you understand.

Most peoples ideals don't align exactly with anyone else. The ultimate point of Nat's post is still valid. Not everyone will agree.

I don't believe anyone here has the community in mind with this. Not when majority of them are currently involved in a HUGE schism in the community IN THE FIRST PLACE. When that is no longer the case, I will happily eat those words without a second thought.

Until then, we should quit pretending it's worry for the community and just say we're upset because we want someone who will agree with our ideals and no one elses.

You're saying it as if the opinions of what NEED to be on a guide are going to hugely differ depending on what side of the rift the members of the community sit on. People will agree or disagree on different things regarding this guide, whether their alignment of the community split varies or not. If people will be so petty as to scald an idea or proposal based on how they feel about the person presenting said idea, then that is pathetic in and of itself.

I don't see why you people still can't agree on promoting good examples over bad ones tbqh. Faey, for example, is an absolute mess and her Guide, if it can even be called that, was a pile of festering shit in comparison to what came before it. The judgement of such a holder can't reasonably be trusted, not because one may disagree with their opinions but because they are, objectively speaking, a massive tool. The fact that they selected the next biggest wanker going is par for the course and only serves to validate the failure of reason. I'm sure this opinion will be dismissed as elitist, but sure look. A spade's a spade.

Yet, the deed is done. Maybe he'll surprise. If at first shit doesn't gleem, shine it again.
