Because not only has it not fallen to a vote but to inheritance for as long as I personally can remember, but also because I'm not changing things as I see fit.
And since it has been that way as long as you remember, it shouldn't be changed?
It was good.
For all the people who are speaking up, there are more who aren't. It is fair to assume that they aren't speaking up because they either approve, or they don't care. While I do take in to consideration the complaints and requests to vote, I also take in to consideration that the vote won't hold every voice. People who don't care tend not to show up to polls, and people who approve of the person in question tend to not feel a need to speak up in defense of the person they approve of because the situation's already where they think it should be.
Because of this, I don't think a vote is entirely necessary, and that's why I didn't entertain the thought with a debate before I made the thread. I won't be entertaining it past this, either, because I do still have pruning to do on the guide.

I'm not aware that any vote in human history has ever held every voice so it seems you're proposing we abolish the concept entirely based on that argument. Moreover aren't the people who do care, who are interested in the subject, the ones most likely to be better informed about it and thus make better choices?
Also on a slightly personal side note:
"people who approve of the person in question tend to not feel a need to speak up "
You've been turning up with rentamobs in Falador to say I've got no support for years and
now
you decide to realise that people mostly only speak up to condemn things not praise them...
