In the settlement of Lumbridge, on a warm summer day, it had come time for a service which the locals had long been waiting for. Father Joel was known in the community for being a kind, soft-spoken man who many of the rather devout population came to admire; he spoke of hope and faith in Saradomin that they shall be delivered from this terrible famine, with such a determination that one might find it hard to disagree with him. For this sermon, on this day, some foreign to the town of Lumbridge were present, notably the Lady Steward of Asgarnia, Alexandra Summers, and His Majesty, William, the King's hand and personal secretary, Hitomi, as well as a Dame of the Blessed Order of the White Knights, Caitlyn Elysia.
He began the service with asking for contributions to the faith, before carrying on into his sermon. Father Joel started by illuminating the struggle they face as a natural occurrence, lamenting that the people of Lumbridge, "his people, his flock, must not give in to the struggle," as dark forces would conspire to have them do. That he is certain that their faith in Saradomin, their Lord, would lift them from their suffering, to live within His mandate of mercy and goodness: love for your family, your neighbors, and your fellow man, to save others from depravity and ill-advised philosophies. He asserted that the greatest threat to the Lord's mandate is for those to lose their faith in Him and give in to the struggle, therein corrupting the land with the insatiable ambitions of evil men with their duplicitous falsehoods of strength and freedom, in exchange for submission to the whims of an evil philosophy.
Father Joel was clear. To submit to the struggle before them, would mean to lose faith in Saradomin and thus corrupt the land with philosophies of evil men.
Hi, I'm Dan.
