Ladies, gentlemen, not-so-gentle-men and fellow tentacle monsters,

Welcome, this is a public roleplay centered around the economics, development, judiciaries, and lives of the citizens of-.. Misthalin. You know, rolling green hills, rich history, looming undead. That Misthalin.

Philosophy
This group functions on a philosophy of roleplay which includes a few main pillars. The first of these is inclusiveness. As a PoK styled roleplay, there will obviously be many events and happenings that might not catch the fancy of every roleplayer. In some instances, those who opt out of one roleplay session may feel lost when attending the next, as plot threads are missing and new characters introduced. A high goal of Misthalin is to create an "opt in" style of play, where plotlines are not so linear that roleplayers don't feel safe in skipping an event or two. Likewise, Misthalin aims to see roleplayers of all stripes partake, without very high barriers to entry.

The second main focus of Misthalin as a group is freelance. I'd love to see spontanious roleplay popping up around Varrock, Lumbridge, Draynor, and the other many cool places Misthalin has to offer! It is fully encouraged to roleplay outside of main events. It's a public roleplay, after all. Use your characters publicly! Misthalin also aims for interesting character development. People are dynamic beings, who grow and change over time. I fully encourage anyone who has a personal storyline that they'd like to see their character involved in to bring it up, so that we can make it happen!

The final pillar is of course, the kind of economic and geopolitical roleplay that comes with running a kindgom. Bureaucracy, trade agreements, lawmaking, and public forums are all parts of operating a country, which I find is sometimes ignored during roleplay. I want to breathe these things to life, down to the casual farmer trying to get their crops ready for the harvest. The King of Egypt herself.

12/2/19 - Queen Karma was reinstated after the abdication of the Mad King Henry Remanis
8/8/19 - Entered a military and trade alliance with Asgarnia.
7/22/19 - Researchers from the Wizard's Tower, along with some Misthalite guardsmen, left on a voyage to Anachronia!
7/18/19 - Diplomatic meetings were held in the Palace, setting the foundation for Misthalite-Asgarnian relations, and preparing for a second expedition to Anachronia by the Wizard's Tower.
7/14/19 - After a raid on Lumbridge castle by local goblins, the Queen has ordered the seizure of any and all grain stored held hostage by local bandits in order to return them to the kingdom.
7/9/19 - Misthalin and Kandarin have entered into a military alliance.
6/25/19 - Queen Belladine was killed by the rebel forces and Ditchwater Witch's Coven. Countess Karma of Edgeville was chosen as candidate for the throne.
6/23/19 - Posted Event: Exitum
6/20/19 - Roleplay was founded! Hooray! The King of Egypt herself.

After a successful voyage, Queen Karma has declared the entire continent as part of Misthalin's newly founded colonial empire. She offers the sale of Royal Charters for aspiring adventurers and merchants to found new colonies on the island to settle and govern in the name of Misthalin!

Territories and Claims

Duchy of Avarrocka
Varrock
The beating heart and capital of Misthalin as well as the Duchy of Avarrockia. A city renown for its prosperity despite its proximity to both Morytania and Forinthry. Such looming threats have prompted the construction of defenses around both the royal palace, and the city itself. Unlike Falador, the walls and buildings of Varrock are drab and grey, with the city promptly divided between the affluent north end, and the slums of the south by the town square. The sheer divide in wealth is cause for unrest, as Varrock is home to the Grand Exchange, a vital trade center which draws in enough gold to fuel the majority of the kingdom.

Edgeville
A border town, lying at the very corner of Misthalin's northern territories, with Gunnarsgrun in Asgarnia close to the west, and the ever foreboding Wilderness breathing down its neck from the north. Edgeville is always tense, tired, and scared. Seeing very little trade, and more than its fair share of undead menaces, the citizens of Edgeville are constantly on high alert.

Silvarea
A cloudy mountain pass connecting Misthalin to the haunted swamps of Morytania. Few but bandits inhabit these dark lands, though civilized life exists only in the form of a single noble's manor, and the church at Paterdomus.

Duchy of Lumbridge
Lumbridge
The titular capital of the duchy, as well as the main agricultural centre of Misthalin. Lumbridge is graced by River Lum, from which it gets its name fertile soul. Swamps to the south as well as an extensive network of caves and tunnels provide some concern to the citizens, though not much.

Draynor
Once the seat of a powerful Vampyre Lord, Draynor has traditionally been a county vassal beneath Lumbridge. It is normally a quiet place, without much activity outside of a local gang and the nearby Wizard's Tower. The King of Egypt herself.
