~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Shadow ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shadow is rather new to the teachings of the tower and is still very experimental, few Shadow Mages share the same methods of control and it exist in a very grey area. Though looked down on by some Mages shadow magic is useful for concealment, escape, and non-lethal attack. Shadow magic attacks the soul directly draining magical strength and mental will. Shadow mages have the ability to darken rooms, conceal them selves in existing shadows, and most have nightvision.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lunar Magicks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lunar Magick is almost as old as any organized Magic group if not older. Created by the members of the Moonclan tribe on Lunar Isle, Lunar Magick seeks not to harm others but manipulate the physical and spiritual world for the ease of the caster. Lunar Magick contains various spells that change the physical world such as the creation of glass, baking of food, filling vessels of water, and creating logs. Lunar Mages also have a strong connection to the life force of other beings and can use their magic to heal other at a massive energy cost to themselves or cure other from poison. Most Lunar Mages has a basic understanding and skill with the base four elements and skill with telepathy. If threatened Lunar Mages also can manipulate light and mind to form illusions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Herblore ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Herbology is magic centered around the manipulation of plantlife and the creation of potions. Herbology started out in Taverly being singularly potion making but branched out into the actual control of plants when some Druids learned that had this bizarre power. Herbologists have vast knowledge of plants and herbs that can be mixed and combines to create the various potions that both the general populous and Wizards alike use. Combat uses for Herbology are limited to the amount of plantlife in the area. Wherever Herbologists go plantlife seems to grow around them allowing them to manipulate plants to flower and shape into whatever form they wish. Most Herbologists carry seeds with them as a precaution, in case they are in a locale that is devoid of plants.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Laws of Magic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Magic is the manipulation of energy through the willpower of the caster
2. Infinite Magic Power does not exist, the energy required to cast spells is based purely on the caster's mental energy and can be augmented with enchanted items that can hold additional energy
3. Runes are used to cast spells and allow the caster to access that mental reserve of magic energy
4. Spells take time to prepare and cast, the stronger the spell the more mental fortitude, time to charge, and risk of backfire the spell has/requires
5. Magic like other skills can be learned by anyone but will show more promise in certain people usually in a hereditary chain

Seers are born with the curse of the futuresight. This takes up a lot of their natural magic ability so they aren't much good at conventional magic.

*Upon Saleh's disappearance Alex would have gone through his office seeking answers, finding only a set of old journals and notebooks*

The Journal of Sale* Dinh:

I: A Fateful Meeting
It was twenty five years ago when I joined the Tower. I was of perhaps twenty years, meditating in Nardah, back when water was abundant. My home was... adequate. It was nice and cool, but not one decoration could be seen. The only furniture in sight was a simple bookcase, stacked with tomes. I heard the beaded curtain in front of my door jingle and ring, so I immediately stood up to see a man with a short yellow beard entering my house.
"What is your business here? Who are you?" I asked. The man did not look like a thief, yet I could never be sure.
"My name is Isaac Lunest. I am the Air Archmage from the Tower. You must be Sale* Din*, 'The Sandstorm'. Am I right?" he asked.
"What a stupid nickname. However, you are correct. What do you want from me?"
"I have heard local rumors that you control the sands themselves****. Dinh. That you learned this talent from a library deep within the desert." I narrowed my eyes in suspicion. He knew quite a bit about me, and he wanted to know my secrets!
"The rumors are true, but the library was buried years ago. Only the books behind me remain." I hoped this would dissuade him from any further action.
"You have the books, then? Excellent! Put them in your bag and come back to the Tower with me!" he said, almost yelling. I was shocked.
"What do you mean, come with you?"
"You'd have the opportunity of a lifetime. You could learn arcane secrets while aiding the world. Come with me." He extended his hand. I cautiously shook his hand, but I was teleported away...

II: The Threat Arises
Fifteen years had passed from the day Isaac "recruited" me. At first I was angry, yet I soon grew to understand the mages. I learned enough to become the Earth Archmage in only ten years. They became colleagues, and eventually friends. Back then, the lineup was far different. Isaac had been promoted to the Grand Archmage, while Firzen remained diligent as the Fire Archmage. I was summoned to the Judging Chambers to decide the fate of one of our own. A man and a child stood in the center of the chamber, bound in chains, looking directly at a monumental desk in front of a throne. Isaac sat the large, white throne, while I sat on a plain brown chair in the center left of the desk. Firzen was at my right and Walter at my left. The Enchanting chair on the far right lay empty. Since Summoning was not yet known, we had no Archmage for it. Isaac yelled, pounding on his desk.
"Enchanting Archmage Andrei. You are accused of the following charges: kidnapping, experiments violating ethics, and misappropriation of Tower funds. How do you plead?" asked Isaac. Andrei looked up, his red hair neatly combed back, contrasting with his deep purple robes. The boy at his side appeared pale and emotionless, staring forward.
"Guilty as charged. But I can exp..."
"Silence! Your actions speak for themselves," yelled Isaac.
"Isaac, don't be brash. Let him explain," said Walter calmly. Isaac sighed in frustration.
"My experiments have proved once and for all that non-magical humans can be made forcibly magical! This is a breakthrough in science, you cannot just stop me now. Think of the possibilities! A world full of mages. All that I did was nab a few children as my prototypes, that's all. I couldn't let consent get in the way of progress," said Andrei.
"How many died in your experiments, Andrei?" I asked.
"Of the ten, only this one here survived testing. However, he is now better than ever!" said Andrei with a smile. He patted the child on the back, yet the boy

II: The Threat Arises Continued...
stood in place, his mouth tightly closed. Isaac beamed in anger.
"Ten children ripped from their mothers, nine killed. This is unforgivable, Andrei. We cannot let you free. The child shall stay with us. I sentence you to execution. May Saradomin have mercy on your soul," said Isaac.
"Don't be rash. Perhaps what he did was wrong, but does he truly deserve to die? Since when do we speak for the law?" I asked.
"What do you suggest?" asked Isaac.
"I suggest that he be banished and sent to Falador for trial, with the child as evidence. They shall decide if he is truly deserving. After this, the child... what is his name?" I asked.
"I never bothered to ask. I always called him Cipher, as he was the key to my success. His ice magic is astoun..." said Andrei as he was interrupted.
"Perhaps Saleh is right. You shall be shipped there within a week. This trial ends now," said Isaac. Two guards stood up to take the prisoners away to a jail cell in the Tower. I barely slept that night, but awoke to the sound of cracking metal. I rushed down to the jail cells, where the bars seemed to have been frozen and shattered. I never expected a child could cast magic without runes. I searched for the two, but they were long gone. I knew my actions, that single act of pity, allowed the two to escape. We searched for them for a month, yet we grew tired and tried to put the matter to rest. I never could.

III: The Realm Approaches
Two Years Ago...
"How did you come across such a place, Isaac? This will change the face of magic forever!"
"We mages have a way of doing things, Saleh. The Runespan is just one of our many achievements. All we had to do was pull this dimension to us using runecrafting altars. Now, we can mass-produce runes easily."
"We? You mean that this discovery is not going public?"
"It cannot. Think of how much chaos would ensue from free, easy runes for all. You know how much I abhor chaos, Saleh."
"I suppose. But we could change the world for the better!"
"It would probably only become worse. This must remain a careful secret, Saleh." I nodded my head in agreement. Our output multiplied tenfold after the Runespan. We did not have to mine essence, collect talismans, or go to altars. We even managed to farm esslings for their runes, effectively making the Runespan a perpetual rune source. We flourished in our power. The New Golden Age of Magic, we called it. I thought that our discovery meant an end to famine, drought, and disease. But with every step forward, there always exists someone to pull us back two. The Tower ran a sort of monopoly on runes, growing rich off of the profits from trading to cites while never revealing the source. Wars escalated to the point where each side had a squadron of mages ready to wreak havoc. Could something so beautiful be corrupted so quickly? Sometimes I think that more lives would be spared if the Runespan was never found.
IV: Anchors Away
One Year Ago...
"Isaac, I finished my inspection of the Fire Altar. It was just like the rest; the energy was out of control. What did you find at the Water Altar?"
"We encountered an enemy. I couldn't get a good look at him, but he raised his hand, bearing a pendant. It looked like the energy from the altar was sucked in, after which the altar exploded. I fear for the Tower, Saleh."
"Perhaps we should take this to the Runespan, Isaac."...
*The remaining journals were hexed*
