The question caught the boy off guard, as he pondered the answer. He found himself unsure, and he replied, “I don’t have a name…” which seemed to surprise the woman in turn. She looked between the remainder of her forces, and back to the child. “Well then, your name will be Sine. Why don’t you come with us, Sine? We’re going to hunt a fearsome beast, and I think you’ll want to watch.” Sine nodded, and as she reached her hand out to him, he took it. They spent the next several days trekking into territory the bandits feared to tread. Sine would occasionally mention things he learned during his time in the wilderness; what places to avoid, what beasts roamed where, what to look for, and each time he was rewarded for this information with food, drink, or an embrace from the strange woman. He found himself choosing the latter more and more. One evening, the woman noticed Sine practicing with the chain and dagger as he attempted to mimic the fighting style of the woman. After some cautionary words on the usage of such weapons, she offered to combine the chain and the dagger to make it more like her weapon, and teach him how to use it. Sine readily agreed, and watched in awe as he witnessed his first spellcast. He asked her how she managed to do that, which surprised her. “You don’t know what magic is?” she inquired. He shook his head, and she smiled. “When we’re finished here, I’ll teach you how to use magic. I think you have a natural talent for it.” She promised. After a few days, they finally came upon the lair of a green dragon. The woman gave Sine one final embrace before going off with the rest of the warriors to fight the dragon. A great battle ensued as Sine watched; and it lasted for quite some time. Though they fought valiantly and dealt several grievous wounds to the dragon, the treated leather they wore was not enough to protect them against the flames and talons of the dragon, and one by one they fell.

. Sine watched in horror as the woman which he had grown so fond of was bitten in half by the dragon. After the battle was concluded, the dragon fell into a deep slumber to recover, and Sine felt a new and unpleasant experience had welled up inside of him; loss. He cried for hours until his eyes could produce no more tears, and in his sorrow he looked at the dragon in scorn. Remembering the weapon the woman had made for him, he took it up and began to swing it about, before sending the dagger hurtling towards his enemy as she had shown him. The dagger didn’t even scratch the dragon, but Sine didn’t care. He continued to swing it at the dragon, for hours upon hours. It was only after he collapsed from exhaustion that he finally realized that the dragon was already dead, having bled out from its wounds.

Sine left the next day, once more alone. He wandered aimlessly, often stopping to cry as he remembered his dear friend and mother figure. He never even noticed he had wandered too close to the lava fields. The air in this region was known for causing hallucinations, and was inhospitable. Nobody stayed here for long. Sine soon began to see what he thought may be the woman, which he chased after. He’d often hear her calling to him, and he would call back without reply. It was in this area that Sine stopped at the foot of a ruined structure, exhausted from chasing hallucinations. He looked down and at his feet was a grotesque mask. As he gazed upon it, he heard a voice say to him, “I know your heart, child, I feel your pain. Take me with you, and you will never be alone again.” Drying his eyes, he picked up and held it in his hands. As he did so, the voice called out to him once again, “I have always been here for you, and I forever shall be. I love you deeply. Look around you, child; this is no place for you. Let us leave this place, let us fulfill that destiny the man laid before you.” Sine looked around him, and realized where he was.

He looked to the south now, and he saw a vision of the man from his first memories, though it quickly faded away. He rose to his feet and began to walk.
He walked for weeks before he finally came to a crumbling wall amongst the grass. Beyond and far in the horizon, he could see another wall; unlike any he had seen in his time in the wilderness, with many structures rising in the horizon. Curiosity once more welled up inside of him, and with renewed energy he strode until he came upon the city. He was greeted with suspicious looks from guards and townspeople alike, but the child was in awe of the city which surrounded him. He spent weeks amongst the city, exploring, though he quickly learned not to walk into most of the buildings, or take things lying on the “stalls”. Occasionally, a passerby would offer the child food; which surprised Sine as he had done nothing to earn it. The boy’s wonder only grew with this fantasy land when he encountered another young child around his age. They were playing a strange game where they hid, and chased eachother. He watched them for awhile as worked to piece together the goal, only to be surprised when one of the children ran up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. “Tag, you’re it!” she said, before running away from him. Sine tilted his head, unsure of what to do at first until she stopped and looked back at him with an equally puzzled expression. “Aren’t you going to chase us?” she asked. He blinked, realizing the goal of the game, and he smiled and began to run after the girl as fast as he could. He played this game with the children all day, until the sun began to set. They stopped and went to their homes, waving their goodbyes to eachother. Sine mimicked the other children and waved back to the girl as they left.

Sine spent three months in the city he came to know as Varrock, during which time he learned a great deal about the world beyond the wilderness and went in and out of several homes as families adopted them, only to fall victim to terrible nightmares and hallucinations while the child was in their home. The last two families to adopt him sought out the help of priests and mages. It was one such wizard working for the United Thaumaturges who advised that Sine be sent off to one of the major guilds to learn magic. After packing Sine’s bags and hiring a carriage, they sent the boy off. Sine found himself eager to learn more about this “magic” he had first witnessed from the woman so long ago, as he hugged the mask which had lead him to the civilized world.

School(s) wanted: Unclear.

Miscellaneous: Its known that the boy seems to occasionally afflict those close to him with terrible nightmares and hallucinations. This perhaps has something to do with the boy’s affinity to the arcane arts.

Sorry for the long post! I should've just made it a link to a google doc, shouldn't I?
