A pleasantly refreshing breeze blew threw the lands of Camelot, which were bathed in a pleasant, gold sunlight as the sixth hour after noon rolled around. Grey clouds that had hung swathed in layers across the sky had parted to reveal a golden setting sun, tinting the sky a deep orange.
It was during that golden sunset that a group stepped up to the roof of Camelot Castle. Auburn-haired Thaylon Grey led the way along with the Queen of Asgarnia, Varissa I, bearing a maroon banner neatly folded into his arms after being admitted into the castle by Xel Praven. They approached the flagpole at the top of the castle, where the banner of Camelot's current ruler hung, submissive to the Vekonic Kings of Kandarin.
Thaylon undid the rope around the steel flagpole, and allowed the Vekonic banner to slump down to the ground. His hands shaking ever so slightly, Thaylon tied the maroon banner in its stead and slowly began to raise it. A moment later, the maroon banner unfurled in the slight breeze to reveal the white, seven-pointed star emblazoned upon the maroon canvas.
A speech was promptly read from atop the castle to the supports of House Grey, who gathered below in the courtyard;
CAMELITE MEN AND WOMEN: In the name of Saradomin and of the dead generations from which she receives her old tradition of nationhood, Camelot, through us, summons her children to her flag and strikes for her freedom.
Having organised and trained her manhood through her Army of the Flaming Lion and the loyalist Camelite people, having patiently perfected her discipline, having resolutely waited for the right moment to reveal itself, she now seizes that moment, and, supported by her exiled children and by gallant allies in Asgarnia and Kharidia, but relying in the first on her own strength, she strikes in full confidence of victory.
We declare the right of the people of Camelot to the ownership of Camelot, and to the unfettered control of Camelite destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of her people. In every generation the Camelite people have asserted their right to national freedom and sovereignty.
After an agreement with the ruler of Camelot, under the Vekonic regime, was struck, the forces and loyalists of Thaylon Grey arrived in Camelot Castle.
The Kingdom of Camelot has now proclaimed full independence from Vekonic Kandarin, under King Thaylon Grey.
