That reminds me of something I've been meaning to confess for at least a year, now. Once upon a time, Sand sold two of Avery's mines without having the rights to them. Brock was away and people were trying to issue notice of invasion to claim some of the mines, and as the only Avery Enterprises (or Avery Mining Co. as it was known back then) worker who was active, I stepped in and decided it would be far easier to con them in the short-term and then consult Brock when he got back about how to proceed.
One mine, the dwarven mine below Falador, was sold to a character of Tom's (who was the king of Falador at the time) for an extortionate amount of money. The other one Sand sold was the Rimmington mine, but my memory has failed me there and I can't remember who "bought" it. Corvus Grey, perhaps? I wish I could remember; either way, it was sold for a similarly outrageous amount of money. In neither case did the buyer think to even do an action of checking the documents; if they had, I would've made it clear that the deeds were forged and the receipts weren't worth the paper they were written on.
In the end, none of this was an issue. Both POCs folded before Brock came back. Falador was torn apart by an invasion and nothing like a full inventory was taken by the new owners of lands and mineral resources included with the city's properties; the forged purchase of the Falador mines was forgotten. The Rimmington POC dwindled and was not replaced by another, so once again the "purchase" of the mines was forgotten. Eventually Brock returned, and everything was back with its rightful owner, as it always had in fact been.
I have meant to come clean about this since at least last year. Sand's gone straight now, and has donated most of the money to the Myreque and used the rest to fund the colonisation of Tathaigh Isle. Thought you'd all like to know.
One man's trash is another's treasure, and one man's cash buys another's pleasure.
So I'll rob from the cradle, and I'll rob from the grave; it's just human traffic, and I'm just a slave.
