Well the moons gravity is the main cause of tides on earth. So is the sun but to a lesser effect.

I definitely think this will be a possibility (probably not in my lifetime). Should at least be preparing for that eventuality. Brassica Prime:

Was fortunate enough to see it with my own eyes a few years ago

Sorry for the added watermarks just wanted to make sure nobody copies it saying they saw it too (unless they have their own legitimate picture to share). It's a pretty good picture of it.

What are we looking at?? I was standing somewhere around here when I took the picture. This second picture I snatched it from a news article it's not my own, but it gives some perspective.
