Derrys, I think you're mixing up gases.
The hole in the ozone layer is caused by CFK's, which have been banned now. All that the ozone layer needs now is time to recover.
100 to 200 years ago, the biggest worries were polluting gases, mainly sulfur dioxide, from burning cheap impure fossil fuels. Emission of sulfur dioxide is being regulated nowadays.
About the weather, I live across the North Sea from the UK in the Netherlands and we're currently in a long, dry, warm period. We haven't had such a dry and warm spring in years. With weather you can always find a local example that goes against the trend of warming, but to get correct figures, you need the average global temperature.
