I have had the pleasure of trying casu marzu once. It is not a food for novices, that much is true. The texture is amazing, and it does have a strong taste to it. It tastes a bit like hákarl, sans the fishy taste, with the coloring of glerhákarl. When you open it up, if t he maggots are still alive it is safe to eat, if they are dead, throw it out. Since it is unsafe to eat.
Yes! If the maggots are alive then the cheese is good! If they're dead then something went wrong with the cheese! The status of the maggots tell the cheese condition!

Fifi then you my dear, would have a fit over Milbenkäse, Cantal, and Mimolette. Granted they do not have maggots like Casu Marzu, but they are made with the help of mites. Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

I really like cheese, but I don't know if I could do it...

I'm trying not to think about it and I will have to try not to think about it while eating other cheeses, but wow... I had no idea this was a thing!

Food scientists have finally managed to remove the mint flavor from gum! The ex-spearmint was a success!

Why do ppl eat rotting cheese? Doesn't this make you deathly ill?

Pretty sure cheese has mould peeled of it before it becomes a finished product and i am also sure jam has a skin layer of rotting mould peeled off before being added to jars and then boxed for trade.

Did more researches and bumped into putting maggots in the wound!
This is getting worse! Better to stay in the cheese!
Nah, that's actually a good thing. Eats the dead flesh, preventing things like gangrene or blood poisoning.

Fun Fact: Atila the Hun would carry around maggots for treating wounds.

Fun Fact # 2: At one point there were buildings where they would put rotting animal carcasses, and you could go inside, and sit and breath in the fumes. The goal of this was to expose oneself to various bacteria and pathogens. This ended up leading to longer life expectancy, and stronger immune systems. It worked similar to how we use vaccines today, exposing your body to a weakened version of bacteria, allowing you to build up better resistances to a number of the virus' and other illnesses going around at the time.
