I have had the pleasure of trying casu marzu once. It is not a food for novices, that much is true. The texture is amazing, and it does have a strong taste to it. It tastes a bit like hákarl, sans the fishy taste, with the coloring of glerhákarl. When you open it up, if t he maggots are still alive it is safe to eat, if they are dead, throw it out. Since it is unsafe to eat. Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

I wouldn't want to eat it anyway, be they dead or alive.
I wouldn't want to eat it if they were dressed in tuxedos and whistling 'Dixie'.

Maggots secrete. And excrete. Does one scrape them out, and their .... residues ... before consumption of the cheese?
