Just heard on the news that Canada having secured more vaccine doses, means everyone who wants one will be able to get vaccinated by September - providing rollout is efficient.

I guess by the back-end of the summer, I'd hope to see many countries around the world having enough of their populations vaccinated. :)

I don't think my country has enough. It sounds a bit iffy, like they've put vaccines on the back burner.

England is an isolated country too, just like New Zealand. England does have a huge population unlike New Zealand. New Zealand's largest city has over 1.6 million people, New Zealand's capital has just over 200k <- when Covid hit our shores last year, we worked hard as a nation, we didn't pull out of lockdown too early, we were actually in lockdown way longer than what was needed <- this is how we beat it, how we got on top of it. We all worked together as a nation, we all did what was asked of us, minus a handful of people here and there who broke the rules; the rule breakers were spoken to by the police, fined and even one or more went to jail I believe. I feel all countries could achieve this.
LOL, ... what an utter bullshit. Every day, 20 planes land in Amsterdam, all from the UK. You do the math. :P :P

That's England's choice to keep the borders open. England has the choice to close it's borders to the world until covid has been resolved.

Errrm, not quite.
What is nearest country of any size to New Zealand - UK's is about 21 miles.

There are many millions of tons of goods transported into and out of UK annually.

In fact, the Strait of Dover has special mention in the Guinness World Records, which states, “The Dover Strait is the world’s busiest shipping lane. 500-600 ships a day pass through the narrow strait between the UK and France. Cargoes include oil from the Middle-East to European ports, and various commodities from North and South America to European customers. In 1999, 1.4 billion tonnes gross, carried by 62,500 vessels passed through the Dover Strait. ”

The guy said New Zealand is an isolated country an island. All I am saying is that England is an island too apparently smaller in size than New Zealand. If England wanted to it could close of it's borders until they have covid controlled.

We may be a smallish island but there's a huge landmass close by with a vast population. Even if the borders were officially closed due to our long coastline and the proximity of France just across the Channel its fairly easy to reach this country. The number of people trying to enter the UK illegally by making the crossing in small boats is high. At least 8400 are known to have made the journey in 2020 and that's just the ones the authorities know about. Add in the small airfields and who knows how many trips have been made.
So officially closing our borders won't work very well but I agree that travel rules have been too lax. Its amazing what some online influencers have been allowed to class as essential travel for "work". :@

Be careful what you say, as proven with the UK, New Zealand isn't 100% airtight sealed isolated from the rest of the world.

Well yes it is an island but that is not what you said = " England is an
isolated country
too
"
The closing of England's borders would not be an option - as it would not for Wales, Scotland and N Ireland = (UK) also Our geographic stature means we are not self sufficient in many essential things - imagine closing the borders to all the imported oil for instance - just not possible.

I've just read that our revered Leader has "expressed concern" at the emergence of yet another Covid variant - The Brazilian.

Flights incoming from Brazil have not been cancelled and there are no plans to do so :|

I find this rather bizarre given that half the world has banned flights to their own countries from the UK due to the "British variant".
