Although people may be fully vaccinated, they are still able to contract variants of COVID-19. However, they are usually asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.
Looks like it may be while yet, until life returns to pre-COVID days.
indeed, sadly 2 years and thats if it weakens/stops on it's own. people keep reopening too early which is 1 higher than zero cases remaining.
Variants will hinder vaccines, any country to become covid 19 free have to wait for everyone else to follow suit.....without team work it won't end and becomes harder to combat it as time goes on as people will question things, revoke orders/safety measures due to the long haul of this whole thing.
Even the world governments have fallen in a trap, what if the only method to stop covid 19, could have been done at anytime, week 1, week 2....means all those people died thus far could have been prevented and will cause their downfall when the people realize X family member would have been alive still if said things were done.....
Answer is lockdown until zero cases, money lost would have been a lot less than now....but heck, i'm not in charge of the calculator for 4 + lockdowns + billions worth of vaccines VS 1 lockdown before vaccines until zero cases plus 30days on which is cheaper.......in both money and lives lost.....while also banning travel to hinder variants from mixing but yeah...i'm not in power and don't plan to be.
But i would have given the order to favour the people's lives not $$$.....$$$ can burn for how insulting all these 3M+ deaths have been. 100% preventable, they died because of greed.
@Inspire you - I'm sorry to hear that, that sounds tough. It's been a tough 1.5 years for many people. I hope we are over the worst of it; even though numbers are rising again at the moment, I'm hoping they get on top of it quickly and it doesn't last long.
@XSlay4DeathX - I can see where you are coming from; we had a infected man with the Delta variant roaming my city for 2 or 3 days, eating and drinking at numerous cafés, using the bathrooms etc and not one person in my city caught the virus of him. He had his first Covid injection; to me this proves Vaccinations are working. It's not fool proof but it's doing its job.
Still have 50,000+ people per day testing positive and still people going in hospital and still a lot of people dying. Yet 19th Freedom Day is stupid.
Still wearing my mask and still using hand sanitising liquids in shops and still doing my part to keep not only myself safe and my family safe but other people safe too.
Not going to be happy to see the fools with no masks on in shops. Just hope they don't get it and pass it along to a family member or friend who gets it bad.
I agree Tuffty. I also think its a huge mistake to refer to the 19th as Freedom day. If people are careful we'll be fine but by calling it Freedom day some people will throw caution to the winds. Lockdown #4 looks very likely if people return to their old ways too soon.
Is there any information available on when the World Health Organisation recommended that lockdowns only be used to rest first responders if they're overwhelmed from an initial disaster, such as an earthquake when the first few days would be crucial to find survivors, to where now that a lockdown applied " to stop the spread " that simply offers no long term view in sight.
And as for being vaccinated, what happens when the next virus emerges, do we just continue to live in a constant state of lockdowns?

"That is the number which we need to get close to zero to be able to get out of the lockdown," she said.
