Because covid is all over the planet now, here's a joke that will cheer everyone up.

My kindergarten teacher made up some fake, weird virus. Being only 5 I thought I was going to die because as she was explaining the "symptoms" in class one day, I was already shaking from fear of not waking up tomorrow. One of the main causes for the plague included eating too much candy. By the time this "disease" cleared, the teacher almost lost her job due to parents complaining about why their children are taking so many sicks days.

I miss kindergarten ^_^
That seems like a lot of effort just to get some children to not eat too much candy :P

Kinda reminds of me of my grandparents telling me not to cross my eyes because they'll get stuck like it if I did it too much, or that I better eat my carrots so I can see better at night (because what kid doesn't want night-vision!

Yeah, sure, it totally seems like he has decades of extensive experience with infectious diseases... I mean, no masks... masks... double masks... not double masks... at least his opinion is consistent though, right? Trust the science!

lol. :D
I feel more to and fro debating coming on ... O_o

We've been over this before with regards to his advice early on, not wasting my time getting into that again.
Don't ask if you don't want an answer then. lol. Don't complain that I've answered a question that you asked. :D

Plus, um, most of that refers to his recent advice, not his early advice. His early advice is only referenced to show that his medical opinion hasn't been consistent at all, since the start. How do you explain his recent flip flopping opinion on double masking? lol

The topic of credentials or a person being qualified came up - Fauci has credentials and a long history in this field. That is undeniable and since you mentioned his name, I thought it appropriate to point that out ;)
Isn't that called an "argument from authority fallacy"?
I'm better than you, but that doesn't mean you're not great! :)

In the first clip he claims it's "common sense" that having more mask layers provides more protection, whereas in the second clip, in relation to wearing more mask layers he states "there's nothing wrong with that, but there is no data that indicates that is going to make a difference".

In the first clip it's "common sense".
In the second clip "there is no data" to support the claim.

How can it be common sense, if there is no data to support the claim?

lol

I can kind of see how it could be seen as common sense but without data to support the claim.

At this point though most people are making their own judgements, for good or bad.

Luckily all my loved ones, family and friends have the same attitude to vaccinations, but even if they had differing views I would respect them, and not try and force my opinion on them, either way!

Equally common sense doesn't always need 'data'
Remember Caz. Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

As C a z said, you can have something that seems to be common sense or seem logical but hasn't been studied in depth or at all. Those aren't contradicting statements.

I or we don't have to be scientists or data analysts to determine that maybe 2 layers are better than 1, and 10 layers are better than 2 - but don't have a study or data to hand, to 'prove' what you're saying.

The message I took away from the video in question was, if you want to double up, double up. It can't hurt but how much it helps in the grand scheme of things is still up for debate.
