Just had a phone call from our GP practice. Me and hubby are getting the vaccination this Wednesday at 6.15 pm! I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

Why do you want this experimental concoction inside of your body?

Why wouldn't I want it? Millions of people have now had the 2 main vaccines and they've been shown to be safe. There are a few categories of people who shouldn't have them, for example if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction, but for most its fine. Any vaccine can give side effects such as a headache or a sore arm, I had a sore arm after the flu vaccination, but that doesn't mean it isn't safe.
I definitely do NOT want to catch this coronavirus. Why would anyone not care about catching a virus that can kill or might leave you with unpleasant post viral symptoms, sometimes for several months? Long Covid is real! I don't believe any of the scare stories about the vaccines changing my DNA or that I'll be microchipped.
Even if I was young I wouldn't want to catch it, not only to not get ill but in case I passed it on to other people.
I look forward to the day when face masks aren't needed. Masks must still be worn in shops etc after vaccination because there is very little data about being able to pass the virus on to others. There will be more information about this as time passes.

My husband and I have just had the vaccine.

We were so impressed in how it was all orchestrated. Efficient, fast, safe, painless .
We had no side effects whatsoever.

So grateful to and totally in awe of the sheer amount of volunteers there at the centre, helping with traffic, parking, opening doors, sorting out your fifteen minute wait after the vacc.
They had started at eight in the morning and were still going to be there at eight at night.
On the day we went we had that bitterly cold weather and so many of them were just stood outside in the cold managing the cars and people.

Congratulations on getting your vaccine. :)

Depends on who's posting it and the actual source probably.

Now, if it were you, I wouldn't believe a word you were saying as you are an anti-vaxxer and have posted as such.

I also would be extremely dubious of random people from internet links claiming they were very ill from the vaccine since their credibility is unverifiable.

If a reliable news source announced that large swathes of a population were becoming ill due to being vaccinated I'd probably think "Oh, shit" .....

So go on - entertain us.

Thanks Dadizar, I hope it will not be very long before you get your vaccine, I think they are making amazingly fast progress now so hopefully will be much sooner than you think

Getting a vaccine seems like a weird thing to congratulate someone on... O_o

I have worked all through the year from the very beginning of the Covid outbreak.

I work in food retail and have had to put up with people breathing, coughing, sneezing close to me often whilst not wearing a mask, or not wearing it properly, I have had customers reaching across me to grab something from the shelf, I have had to work at close proximity to other members of staff as some of our store areas are not large enough to do anything but.

So for me congratulations in getting the vaccine is entirely welcome and appropriate, had I been able to wait out the pandemic tucked up safely at home it might not have had the impact on me that it does.
It has now made me feel as if there might be a safe way out of this nightmare, so please bring on the congratulations as I certainly feel very lucky

It's not an accomplishment. It's just a vaccine.

Do you get congratulated on getting your influenza vaccine?

Is that something people say to you every year?

Maybe there's a different word that should be used...

P.S. I'm glad your fears have been placated. :)
I'm better than you, but that doesn't mean you're not great! :)

Nex, people are happy that they've received something that hopefully gets us out of this pandemic and makes it less harmful to those most at risk. Why respond with such negativity?

Why is it weird? We're in a global pandemic that's resulted in people being confined to their homes for weeks/months on end and on multiple occasions (not to mention those who've lost loved ones) so why shouldn't something that gives people some joy to know that this will hopefully move us past our current situation be celebrated?
