Finally finished Canada's Drag Race (season 1) with my partner last night.

We both very much enjoyed it, probably more than the original RPDR American version. Great queens, diverse challenges that were both campy and aggressively Canadian at times, and an all-around good time. We also loved that the judges were HARSH; there's no skating by, and they didn't do any of those RuPaul shenanigans of bringing people back in when she feels like it and messing with the competition at will. Sure, some could say that's part of the entertainment, but it's not my jam.

If I could change one thing, it'd be to get rid of Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman as a judge. Sure, he might be nice to look at, but he seems so fake that I can't stand him.

The Halloween theme continues... last night's film was When the lights went out

A good old fashioned haunted house story set in the north of England in the 70s.
I particularly like this one because it gets the 70s spot on - the clothes, the hair, the decor, the cars etc. So many "retro looking" films get things wrong.

Great plot too, another one that is based on an allegedly true story.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

Finished off my Halloween binge last night with a double bill: Night of The Demon (1957) and It Follows (2014).

Very different (as you'd expect being 55 years apart) but both in my top ten horror list.
Ancient though it is, Night of The demon is still a very effective horror film. The creature in it is almost comical but the story is excellent.

It Follows is very slow... but very creepy. Hard to describe without giving too much away but it creates an unsettling mood that you rarely see in modern horror.
