Going back to the convo above re. jabs.
There was a discussion on the radio today about the Passport thing - not so much for travel but a domestic one in the UK to permit entry to certain venues.

Some guy - he sounded a bit old - was babbling on about "this is not how we do things in the UK" and "this is not the British way". I was driving at the time and yelling like a fruitcake at the radio to the effect of 'get over yourself you old fart'.

Yeah, having to produce your Papers isn't something I've ever had to do domestically but, then again, there hasn't been a bloody pandemic since I've been alive either. One must change with the times where necessary and not pop an artery with outrage that it's 'just not the British way' and declare it's the thin end of the wedge of fascism.

I would happily produce a Covid status certificate/passport to be able to actually go to events/places with confidence. I don't want to keep wearing masks and socially distancing. :|

At the moment me and hubby still don't know if our planned cruise in September will go ahead and if it does what type of restrictions might still be in place. If we have to be vaccinated/immune, like some companies are insisting ( eg Saga ), I'd be much more relaxed about going. However I would like our destination, Norway, to also have high levels of vaccinated people. Luckily the cruise company have moved the date by which we need to decide from May to August. Before that date we can change our booking without penalty.

edit to add: I sometimes shout at the radio when I'm driving. I also shout at the radio/TV when I'm at home. Well I don't actually shout but I make loud comments, usually about the stupidity of whats just been said or correcting errors in their information. I particularly hate it when reporters use the words bacteria and virus as if they were the same thing.

I actually don't mind the masks too much, it helps hide my chronic RBF. HOWEVER... I hate that it fogs my glasses terribly and I can't see anything anyway. I've yet to find a solution for that besides holding my breath and trying to maneuver my glasses over the mask so it doesn't fog (as bad).

I fully support wearing a mask when you're feeling under the weather though. I'll definitely adopt that for the future.

Even as an introvert, I think the social distancing is starting to get to me. I've only interacted with a few people outside of my fiancé in the last year. On about six occasions. I never thought I'd say I miss physically going into a McDonald's but I do haha
Arrr! Only th' Devil an' I know th' where'bouts o' me treasure, an' th' one o' us who lives th' longes' should take i' all.

Ugh, yeah, I get the fogged up specs as well.
I'm hoping that when the weather warms up a bit (if ever) it won't be such a problem as the lenses won't be so cold and fogging from my hot, passionate, sex-goddess breath :|

I wouldn't care about having to produce evidence of my Covid status either.
However, I'm not sure how I would respond to someone who had not had the vaccine saying that it was unfair for them to be barred from places and activities - especially if it were not a matter of mere choice in their case.

I'm a bit on the fence - but not due to reasons of control, political oppression or 'just not cricket, old boy' type of things.

I mentioned on the previous page that there needs to be a way for people who
cannot
have a vaccine for medical reasons to have an exemption or some such thing. They need the rest of us to step up and be part of the "herd immunity" to protect them.

I can't believe how different the weather has been the last few days. Less than a week ago it was 21 C where I live. Last couple of days there's been a strong icy wind and today it snowed!

Completely irrelevant but .... I've only just noticed my avatar has got ginger eyebrows.

When I was little I had really quite gingery hair but my eyebrows were (and still are) a darkish brown. Except for a few grey hairs. Aye, deffo getting old.

And that's made me think about noses .... via the route of when I visited China quite a few years back people kept coming up to me and touching my hair (which I was dyeing a rather handsome chestnut at the time) and thrusting their babies at me to take photos. Red is lucky for them and people with red hair are, therefore, good fortune. I didn't mind the babies but being handled by strangers was a little unnerving.

Anyway - noses. So I'm in China looking at the Terracotta Army and a Chinese girl next to me points at one and says it's her favourite because he's so handsome. I smiled and she said "You Westerners think we all look the same".

I just shrugged and she carried on to say "Well, we think you're all ugly with your big noses".
And walked away. I'd never realised some/all Chinese people thought Westerners had big noses and that big noses were considered ugly. Or maybe they don't actually think that and she was just a rude cow.

By Heck! I'm wittering. Must be time for bed.

Yeahhhh !!! for Blackjacks and Fruit Salads.

They sell them now in B&M and the Poundland near me. *Ahem ...* so I'm told anyway.

I don't make a point of going in there to buy them. Then sit shovelling them into my gob until The Guilty Bell starts ringing and I remember it's probably wreaking havoc with my blood sugar level and I'll be high as a kite on excess sugar for the rest of the day.

No, that never happens. Nope.

There seems to be a bit of a revival in retro sweets now. Black Jacks, Fruit Salads, Sherbet Fountains.

Takes me back a long, long way :)

I loved sherbet fountains, despite the useless liquorice "straw" that never worked.
Dip Dabs were awesome too :P

There are quite a few websites specialising in "nostalgic confectionery"... there's also a shop not far from where I live that does the same... they're expensive but they stock so many things I remember.
