I have a question: what are people supposed to do with cards after they read them?
Personally, I put cards on top of a book shelf I have at work. I try to showcase as many of them as possible. I'm a hoarder, so I probably have cards that are 10 years + old sitting in storage bins.

I put them on top of my fridge for a bit and then toss them.
Honestly... I wish we would stop giving cards. Emails exist and are cheaper and more environmentally friendly anyway - but a lot of people look down their nose at me because I care to even be slightly "green" and go against tradition all the time.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known
@Theos ha, much the same, I hoard on all my cards. Great memories.
Life is like a camera: Just
focus
on what's important,
capture
the good times,
develop
from the negatives, and if things don't work out,
take another shot

I don't 'have a problem with people being 'green', as you put it. However, why not look at things that are actually causing issues? I think cards are fine. Buy the ones that are using materials that are biodegradable, or recyclable. Emails will only exist for as long as technology is around.
Wasn't it that the top like what, 50 or so? corporations were responsible for the majority of the pollution and environment killing stuff anyway? But of course, BAN the PLASTIC straws.
Paper straws piss me off. Change the fucking lid if you have to, but why the fuck make paper straws????????????????? WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA?
Arrr! Only th' Devil an' I know th' where'bouts o' me treasure, an' th' one o' us who lives th' longes' should take i' all.
I don't use straws anyway, I can't see the point.
Little kids and disabled people have specialist cups to stop them tipping stuff down themselves, adults
should
be able to undertake the fairly simple task of imbibing a liquid straight from a cup, mug, carton, flask, glass or some other suitable receptacle designed for that purpose.
If there's one thing that is really unnecessary to normal everyday life it must surely be a drinking straw?
I agree that straws are unnecessary for most people. I never use them except when you have one of those cartons with a little round section to push a straw through. Unless you have scissors and a cup to hand you have to use a straw.
Is anyone else having a problem with the forums being
very
slow? Other sites are working as normal.
Edit: its a lot better now but still a bit sluggish

It's been slow for me for a long time but maybe it's because my computer is a potato.
And yeahhh. They designed the container around the damned straw!
As I'm doing combat dummies at the moment (très boring) I think I'll think about things which are pretty useless.
- Drinking straws (imo)
- Christmas Crackers
The whole thing gets thrown away immediately after one use. Loads of paper waste - cracker, hat, joke scroll and crappy plastic toy. Serious waste of resources.

I don't send cards and get looked down on for it. I don't care what other people do. However, I do get a similar rant whenever I tell someone why so I just let people look down their nose at me now. One day people will stop sending silly cards and expecting them in return, but that day is not today.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

Aaaand ... that log-in screen today looked a bit weird. Worried me for a moment.
Same. I then realised it was update day but I think its horrible.I can't quite identify what it is about it that I dislike..more cartoony perhaps? *shrugs*
Christmas crackers are a bit naff if you get the cheap ones but I've had some useful things inside more expensive ones. A set of tiny screwdrivers was one. I've used them to repair my glasses frame when a screw came loose. They also fit the tiny screws on the battery compartments of some of our christmas ornaments.
