I read a rather charming myth about the philtrum today.
It says that before babies are born they have all the knowledge of the Universe, the meaning of life, what happens after death ... they know everything there possibly is to know.
Just before the moment of birth an Angel visits them and bids them "Sssssh!" and places a finger onto their lips, and all the knowledge is locked in and hidden from them.
The philtrum is the impression of the Angel's fingertip.
Silly, but somehow sweet
