Lol, i really don't get why people are bashed if they watch mainstream anime or read mainstream manga. One Piece is like #3 in my top 5. Naruto and Bleach are also great anime. That's all i have to say about that.

Hmm, after watching Romeo X Juliet, I'm not sure what I want to watch next. Do you guys have any suggestions? I mainly like action, comedy, ecchi, romance, sci-fi, and slice of life.

i don't understand. are we not allowed to talk about naruto, bleach, and one piece here?... it has to be a wicked old anime? i mean yes, i have watched/read others but nowadays those are the main three that i read.

You realise that there are like... 30+ anime released every 3 months right? That's more the point, there's all this content coming out which basically goes ignored. Side's, I tried Bleach, got three episodes in and bailed....

well i wouldn't really consider one piece being mainstream tbh.. it came out in 1997 and it's still going today. if that's not a good manga than i don't know what is. lol not saying there aren't other good mangas out there but seriously... don't go bashing something that's been out for sometime now.

*h, it's mainstream enough in the west, in Japan it couldn't get any more mainstream than One Piece. Either way, It's easier to just toss pretty much everything that runs in Jump into the same basket since they all pretty much use the same tropes and plot development, just change up the theme.

The issue is more with the anime than with the manga though, since manga requires at least some degree of induction into anime as a wider thing. See, objectively speaking Naruto and Bleach and the like aren't all that good, falling somewhere between mediocre and bad, but they endure in the collective fandom due to an excess of exposure.

People get stuck in this hole, watching only those and stay (often selectively) ignorant of anime as a wider thing, and have gone so far in the past to look down on wider anime as inferior to a series which is in actuality formulaic and not that great. It's not hard to understand where a militant 'anti-shonen' agenda can crop up.

New adaptation for Legend of the Galactic Heroes green-lit! Get out of here with your sh*tty mainstream talk, this is the future!

Is this the real life?

Well Jesse, it says they're adapting more of the original novels. So this is just going to end up as some prequel, or side story I'm guessing . I don't think it could really be a sequel since the show was thoroughly concluded.

But wow, this is just wow. Excellent news. Anime is saved.

I just finished Jormungand, and I'd say it was pretty good, definitely would recommend it to anyone that loves action. Best action anime I watched, right behind Hellsing Ultimate. Story was pretty good, felt a little slow in the middle, but it did make me think. I'd give it a 8.5ish maybe 9/10.

I'm going to watch Psycho Pass next, pretty excited (waiting for full English dub though).
