Probably because nobody has seen it.
As far as the people that post here, it's between me or Jesse for who has seen the most anime. So it's very likely that if either him nor I have seen it, nobody has. Although, I do recognize Black Butler as being a popular anime. It's just one of the very few popular ones that I have yet to see. One guy even posted it on the last page (Kuros***suji) although there's no discussion around it.
If you really want to know about a particular anime you can always visit MyAnimeList. Statistics of peoples scoring are there as well as reviews.

It's actually a lot more popular than you would think. Despite it not being discussed much, many people have seen it. I've skipped over it because it doesn't particularly appeal to me, but I'll get around to it one of these days.
On MyAnimeList it's the 36th most watched and the 166th highest scoring anime.

Neon Genesis Evangelion:
In the year 2015, the Angels, huge, tremendously powerful, alien war machines, appear in Tokyo for the second time. The only hope for Mankind's survival lies in the Evangelion, a humanoid fighting machine developed by NERV, a special United Nations agency. Capable of withstanding anything the Angels can dish out, the Evangelion's one drawback lies in the limited number of people able to pilot them. Only a handful of teenagers, all born fourteen years ago, nine months after the Angels first appeared, are able to interface with the Evangelion. One such teenager is Shinji Ikari, whose father heads the NERV team that developed and maintains the Evangelion. Thrust into a maelstrom of battle and events that he does not understand, Shinji is forced to plumb the depths of his own inner resources for the courage and strength to not only fight, but to survive, or risk losing everything.
It's really dark and depressing. I've never seen another show that has hit with such an overwhelming sense of despair and hopelessness. It gets really deep with the plot later as well as very psychological. Many, many people are left scratching their heads after it's over. But, if you are able to understand it completely and get emotionally attached to the characters, I'd say there's nothing else quite like it.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes:
For decades, the Galactic Empire has been locked in an interstellar war with the Free Planets Alliance, a conflict that involves thousands of spaceships and millions of soldiers on both sides. Two new commanders enter the conflict with great hopes: Imperial Admiral Reinhard von Lohengramm and the FPA's Yang Wen-Li. As they deal with superiors and subordinates, maneuver through complicated political arrangements, plot strategies, and win battles, each will be tested, and ultimately, changed, by the reality of war.
Top notch story telling. It's like you're watching a History Channel special. Very realistic in terms of warfare.

Makes me think of Elfen Lied. I might watch that, but I'd have to watch the first part of it before I do that. Legend of the Galactic Heroes seems boring, though.

It would be a disgrace to compare it to Elfen Lied. NGE is miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiles better.
LoGH might sound boring but hmm... You've had to have seen Code Geass right? Well read this, I think it sums it up perfectly:
"Imagine Code Geass without "magical eyes", mechs, ideas like "the one who yells louder wins", immortal women and stupid idealism (hi Suzaku). You with me so far? Now, imagine Code Geass where there are dozens of great commanders like Lelouch on both sides, where political intrigues, plots and schemes are far from uncommon. Imagine battles of epic proportions and war on the galactic scale, where winning side is decided only by commanders intelligence, number of troops, their morale and available resources, not superunits like Lancelot. Do this and you've invented LoGH.
BTW: concept of main hero searching for vengeance against Empire that did bad things to his sister, and exacting this vengeance using military and political means first appeared in LoGH, not CG. Lelouch copied Reinhard in many ways, but I can't say it's a bad thing. LoGH is just too damn good to not be copied."
There's a reason why it's the 5th highest ranked.
