Still sounds like a twat though. I mean from what I heard I can understand him thinking that it's normal to cheat as a lot of people do that, but get some fucking integrity please.
The thing will School Days, is Makoto is as much as a victim as he is a wrongdoer.
I'll give a summary of the first half in spoiler tags.
It opens up with Makoto being shown to have fallen for a girl on the train who goes to his school, Kotonaha. That day he takes a picture of her with his phone. ater that day at school, they change seats in the classroom, and a girl named Sekai ends up sitting next to him.(Theres a lot more to this part of the story you can only get from the VN. In the VN it is shown that her friend Setsuna drew the spot, but traded spots with Sekai.)
So Sekai figures out Makoto likes Kotonaha, and proceeds to help set him up with her. This is where it starts getting mesed up. Though Sekai set Makoto up with Kotonaha, she also likes Makoto. (Classic love triangle bit, not that unrealistic.) However, even after setting him up with her, Sekai proceeds to play with Makotos feelings, having sex with him under the pretense of "training in order to help him get more used to women". Due to this, Makoto ends up pulling away from Kotonaha, (never actually telling her he was breaking up with her mind you), and ends up going out with Sekai.
To add onto all of this, it isn't only Sekai and Kotonaha that like Makoto, Sekais friend, Setsuna, as well as an old friend of Makotos who also ended up going to the school, are in love with him. Sekai herself didn't actually fall for Makoto until after her friend Setsuna did, and only because Setsuna did.
