Keep your viruses and hour(s) long downloads. /kthxbai.
This is a myth from a decade ago that still persists today.
No, it actually isnt. It's a gamble every time you click a magnet link. How do I know this? From a great deal of experience.

If it's not in a video format (mkv, mp4, avi) or is something like avi.exe then obviously I wouldn't download it. Not to mention, video files don't have executable privileges.
Viruses can and do come in files pretending to be mkv, mp4, avi. I'm not saying that I'm a moron who would click on something like avi.exe, but I know people who would. Because moron. So I cant say I would advocate using pirate sites for this reason, on top of a couple of others.

Unless your internet connection is extremely slow then a CR or Funi rip will download in a few minutes
What's the point of ripping one episode at a time? Why not just stream an entire season, for free, legally? Most of CR's library is free after a certain time frame. It's mind boggling that people tell me to torrent when I can watch stuff for free. Same thing with Viz Media, although it's not their entire library, it is some of the good stuff. Then there's Daisuki that catches the stuff CR doesnt license and lets you watch it for free too. funimation is the only app I have a hard time justifying paying for and even then their dubs are flipping fantastic! For only ten bucks you can access nearly their entire library minus the Bandi/AGV stuff that's gone with the wind. All of these options are hassle free, on demand, no downloading or waiting required. Why would anyone in 2016 pirate anime with awful fansubs? Unless you are just hard up for cash (how the frack can you even afford internet?!) or live in an area that's hates anime, there isnt any good excuse to pirate.

I bet everyone uses either utorrent or transmission... I feel so lonely using vuze T_T
also Spice and Wolf has a sequel announced!
You got me really excited until I looked into that and saw that it's just another light novel. Was hoping for an anime season 3.......
the novels are pretty good, don't underestimate them
It would be an absolute travesty to dismiss Spice and Wolf's writer, as the anime is derived from the light novel. It's also great to know that most of her work has been translated to English, by professionals, that you can buy for a nominal fee of 10$ US, which is a STEAL for such good story telling.

Magnet links are just a torrent ****. There are no files associated with them, and they can be posted in plain text. There is nothing inherently dangerous about this so either you are ******** or trolling.

Video containers are not executable files, so nothing would happen even if I did try to play the video. The only possible weaknesses are in the video player itself, but this is an extremely unlikely (and extremely specific) attack. Go change a pd* file to txt and tell me if you can still open it. As far as I can tell, the limits of file spoofing involve reversing the extension's text but anyone with a brain would be able to see through this.

For the price of a subscription to CR and Funi I can buy a VPN subscription and an external hard drive to store shows on. Not only can I watch whatever you can, I have access to BD rips as well. I feel bad that you're paying for Funi because I don't even want to watch their product for free. Bad translations, bad typesetting, and bad encodes - what more could you want? I would watch literally any fansub release of a Funi show over Funi.
Once again, if you are waiting longer than 5 minutes to download a show then your internet is ****. Downloading isn't slow.

2016 Winter Lineup has been rather disappointing IMO.
Watching:
Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
Durararara!!! X2
Gate: Jietai Kanochi nite K**u Tatkaeri 2
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
Konosuba
The rest of the lineup are just shows you watch to pass time imo. This is where they're not really that bad but not that good either. Just mediocre.
Completionist - 2.5b+ Total XP
Trimmed Completionist In the Making
- 11/30 Rocks 10/32 Golden Statue 2500/4150 Castle Wars Tickets
