I know what you mean eh, those last few episodes of random mind-screwery just completely come out of nowhere. Technically they arent really the 'true ending' though, since as far as I'm aware they ended the series the way they did due to the fact that the budget ran out, not because it was originally meant to end that way. The 'true' ending is the End of Evangelion film, which is intended to replace those two episodes.

. If this is indeed true (source please. And which magazine exactly, there's a few Dengeki mags) then I would wager that its most likely going to be a VN, since it was announced in January 2011 that Key were supposedly looking into whether there was enough additional story content for an AB visual novel adaptation (plus they will already be busy with Little Busters as far as the anime front goes).
They were supposed to make an announcement on whether they were going to go ahead with it sometime midway through last year, but the announcement never came, so perhaps it was delayed while they focused their attention on Rewrite. Announcing it about now would follow Key's usual modus operadi (they usually make them early April), plus this also ties in with the date of the official announcement of the Little Busters! anime (for which a commercial was already leaked).

Got an email from Rightstuf today to inform me that since I can still have the Madoka Magica LE's shipped directly to me rather than having to go though a carrier service, due to the fact that I placed my order long before the change in distribution rules. Saves me the hassle and $38, so im happy.
