Anywhere and everywhere, for now I'm ticking off all the obvious places .

Spent the day in Ak*hababa today, and it's pretty much what they bill it as. The idea of having an entire street dedicated to everything I like is crazy, but it's also oddly intimidating, to the point that I wandered up and down the street 3 times before I actually went into any stores.

A few things to bear in mind if every you visit:

1#: It gets weird below street level
2# shopping an Akiba is a 2 step process
2a) Find things you like
2b) Sort them into things that will and wont get you arrested

The basement levels are usually where they keep all the 18+ doujinshi, more questionable sort of eroge and all other such material that would make the prudish lose the will to live.

Nothing quite so awesome as turning on the TV and finding a rerun your favorite anime playing. Don't even miss the subs, I could get used to this. S'all ight, they've been making me jelous all day, blasting the OP for the VN at me out of every shop I walk into...

Course, there's a price to be paid for all this. The Nyaa tracker doesn't seem to work here, so I can watch them faster, but have to download the subbed version via DDL :@

Huh?

Pretty much. Japan is pretty much OK with anything in 2D media, which makes Ak*habara the ********* capital of the universe. Australia being the way it is with customs checks, I'm almost guaranteed to have my bag turned out when I get there since there has been so much activity on my passport of late ( 11 countries in 5 weeks), so I have to be sure there's nothing to ero in there that features minors.

Hard part with that is that since all the books are shrink-wrapped, so I have to make

Also, I am a claw game God. Spent about 20 minutes in an arcade in Shibuya (hiding from the rain) watching some girl feeding about 3,500 yen into one of those Japanese 2-pronged claw game trying to grab some One Piece figure. She finally got the bloody thing and left, so I figured I'de have a shot at getting something from one of the other machines. Only had four 100 yen coins in my pocket, so I wasn't expecting to win, just wanted the experience. Nailed it in 3 tries.

The trick, or so I found, is to position the claw just behind the center of mass rather than on it. Put it to far forward, the box falls back down. To far back, the box gets caught up against the glass. The first try, I managed to wedge it against the glass so the attendant had to some over, unlock the case and reset it lol

Also also, did you know that in Japan you can use your subway smartcard to pay for vending machines? That's awesome... Not to mention that there are vending machines literally everywhere (you cant walk more than 150 steps between rows of vending machines. They on every corner and outside every store. I'm playing vending machine roulette at the mo, so many different drinks to try.

there are ways to "smuggle" the stuff in plain sight if you know what you're doing
i.e.
1. place discs and covers separately whenever possible and don't over-cram
2 don't act nervous, that's a dead giveaway
3 objectionable content goes to luggage, everything else is carry-on
4 use roundabout methods (this requires some research as to which airport/country is lax when it comes to the content), China tends to be lax in this regard (although that was years back, not sure about now...)
