I think you guys will be missing out if you dont watch it. I say that I'm, not sure about it, but that's only as a stand-alone thing, as a package deal with the rest of the series the film puts a definite exclamation point on the whole 'hope and despair' debate that really caps the narrative.

Probably not, it would demand a certain amount of investment into the characters, specifically the relationship between Homura and Madoka, to get anything significant out of it. It's got enough objective value to be worthwhile in terms of thematic analysis, biblical comparison and technical merits to be worth watching if you like looking at that side of thing, but if not then theres no point watching it if your not big on the fanchise.

Do be sure to grab the 'Gun-Fu in stopped time' battle scene off Youtube or something though, even if you don't watch the whole movie that scene was awesome.

I'll keep it on my list to watch for now then. I'll check out the stuff you mentioned too.

Has anyone here watched Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei? The premise sounds really interesting and was wondering if it's actually any good?

Have there been many anime that deal with depression? I guess the one that comes ot mind recently that I have watched is Watamote. Which is more about anxiety and loneliness.

Don't know if this has already been written but the ongoing third arch of Sword Art Online, called Gun Gale Online looks pretty promising from what I have seen in the first couple of episodes, I enjoyed the first arch, not so much the second but hope I will enjoy this one.

Pretty promising series.
