My feelings on Refrain where much the same as my feelings for the first season, it's not bad in and of itself but it's still pretty sub-par to the original content. I'm a little dissapointed with the way the Refrain arc played out in the anime, becasue they cut some scenes that, IMO, are critical to the emotional payoff and that should not have been cut for any reason at all.

Specifically *SPOILERS* a scene which should have sat between episodes 12 and 13 which takes place after Riki wakes up in a hospital after the bus explodes, and Rins sitting there against a wall hugging her knees, and they talk about how they're going to have to be there for each other from now on, which may or may not end with a marriage proposal. The last line the game (not counting the epilogue) from Rin: 'if your with me, I think I can go on' and then the credits roll for a false end (which can be a true end, if you choose), that was a very important piece of the story that I feel should not have been cut. *END SPOILERS*

Also, most of the music in the LB anime was lifted directly out of the game, it's not any different as far as I can tell. Only differences in music I noted was a reversioned OP (there's like 7 versions of that now, though I still like the original better) and a reversioning of Alicemagic, one of the ED's from the game which is the ED for the first season (I kinda like the anime version).

But I gotta agree, Key does produce some amazing music, which occupies a whole lotta Ipod space because most of the game BGM OST's are 3 disks each, plus I got the OP's + all the GDM CD's and....yeah.


Also also, Raiken, why dont you try watching it on Youtube? I know there are full playthroughs of the game on there. It's not as satisfying as playing the game yourself I'm sure, but at least that way you can skip the baseball practices (which are kinda annoying after the first couple of times).

Ok, I'll try rewatching Air again and re-evaluate it. It's just that the first time around, they didn't really warn me that a new arc was starting. I got thrown off when the second arc started and I didn't know what was going on. I'll give it another shot.

Speaking of Clannad, what is everyone's favorite pairing in the anime? I know most say Tomoya/Nagisa, but I really like the Tomoya/Kyou pairing. I just think that they make a really good couple. My position on that really strengthened when I read this amazing fanfiction called Clannad: Tomoya's Lost Years. If anyone likes reading fanfiction, this is a great piece of work that I would recommend to anyone.

Wow, I went back and realized I said "Refrain" when I meant to say Rewrite, although I want to play both.

Yeah, Refrain's ending was a little emotionally weak in the adaptation compared to the endings I'm used to from Key.

Anyways, if I remember right, they're doing a OVA adaptation of some of LB Ex. I really hope they include some of the music that I understand is exclusive to the Ex version, especially Saya's Song (not to be confused with Saya no Uta).

I haven't really thought of that, Jesse. I might have to give that a shot.

(And no, Revive, ore wa SUUPAA TENSAI NANODESU!)

Jk, my favorite female was always Kotomi, but I can't exactly see Tomoya x Kotomi, so in all honesty I'd have to go with Tomoya x Tomoyo. (No, not just because of the similar names.)

The first episode of EX is already out, should be one every month if I remember correctly. I believe they are starting with Saya's route, which is awesome becasue frankly the wait for Doki to finish the VN translation is slowly killing me. Given the aural assault that was the LB! anime's liberal use of BGM, I'm sure there will be a version of the song in there, whether its the original or not I cant say.

But Rewrite huh, that ones an odd game becasue it's Key-like and yet not (and Terra is such a slog to get through...). Ironically, I had it open in the background listening to some of the music (theres this one track, Journey, which I love) when you posted that.

Im also in the kotomi x tomoya boat (childhood friends) I alsolike kyou and tomoyo though

the first ep was saya for lb:ex just to confirm what jesse said

yes kanon is worth finishing

err kyou episode...she spends the whole time trying to set him up with her twin even though she like him as well he falls for her...she feels like she betrayed her sister she goes and cries somewhere...while its raining heavily tomoya finds her emotional speech begins...they embrace skip to ending she has cut her hair to look like her twin kyou and tomoya are now a couple they kiss (the only kiss in the whole of clannad if im not mistaken) ep ends.
