Ah, Touhou, some of the only games to ever give me a real challenge. I still want to go back to those just to see if can get any better.
I didn't much care for Air either, but not so much as to give it a 3/10. Still, the tv show was a lot weirder than it should've been, in my opinion. I remember Clannad After Story having that one weird supernatural turn at the end (that really just came out of no where), but on whole the series stayed normal. Air was just... yeah.
It's interesting, in every anime based off a Key VN, there's always a supernatural aspect in some way, shape, or form. However, out of all of those anime, I think Kanon does the best in terms of incorporation of a supernatural aspect. Angel Beats! does really well here too, but the aspect in AB!, for lack of a better phrase, doesn't seem as supernatural when put into context with the story. As for LB!'s anime adaptation, the supernatural aspect came up randomly as with Clannad AS and Air where it wasn't really there in the beginning (aside from 1 or 2 points) and then they abruptly spring it on you (imo). With Kanon, the supernatural aspect wasn't constantly there, but it was introduced rather well later within the first arc and was used as a predominant plot device throughout the series. This is why I tend to say Kanon was the best adaptation of a Key VN, the story just fit together so well (plus "Uguu~!" of course).
Feel free to correct me on any of that, it's been a while since I've rewatched Clannad, Air, and AB!.
