I'd say that it is simply the times we live in. Lots of companies skirt the law. Hell, lots of individuals do as well.

Personally, it makes me laugh, but I can see why others would find it sad.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

No mentioning of the most recent and, by far the biggest, controversy on the topic of censorship pushed out by 'Acti-Blizzard' recently on a stream of Hearthstone, with their Grandmasters Tournament interview afterwards with the winner of it, well I won't say much on the matter for transparency per the rules, but I dare say few don't know what the issue entails by this point, but I will say this:

It's gotten the many feathers of China ruffled and they're none too pleased with those whose games their market plays who enable such speech from the 'terrorists' that threaten Hong Kong, that much can be said. And with Jagex being owned by Fukong, who is financially embattled and is searching a method of transferring ownership of Jagex to a shell company of theirs to escape liquidation and bankruptcy, it should be noteworthy that they have ties with the Chinese Government, and anyone worth their weight knows how nearly the entirety of the corporate structure belongs to them, the days and weeks ahead will be very interesting indeed!

Thanks for the contribution, and I haven't really updated this thread with newer relevant information in the world of games censorship recently.

Activision Blizzard being absolutely scummy is no surprise. It's their modus operandi.

Unfortunately, most companies are now chasing that Chinese blood money. So, expect the shilling to get way worse.

The Switch version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions is confirmed censored, as expected, but still saddening.

Nintendo even had to apologise:

Shame it's still fucking censored.
