History is once more repeating itself. Saw this same mass panic and fear at the start of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and am now seeing it again with COVID 19. Only this time instead of the three H's (Haitians, Homosexuals, and Hemopheliac's) being feared, it is the unvaxed.

Same fear mongering in the media this time around too. Only difference between then and now, is there is then there was no light speed untested vaccine.
Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

Almost died from Covid 19.

A miraculous feat of survival on my part that only happened this morning. Driving on an 80Km road, there's a turn off to the left for one of dem " testing clinics , cars backed up almost twenty deep at half five, ridiculous I know, then all of a sudden a car joins the already mile long queue to leave itself half way on the two lanes of traffic, mind you .... this length of cars are on the other side of a blind crest.

I dodged quickly to the right lane, accelerating at break neck speeds in order to pass the car to my side & like that ... I survived becoming another Covid 19 statistic.

I am, a Covid 19 survivor.

Tested positive yesterday.

Headache
Fever
Body aches
Congestion
Extreme dizziness/slight confusion
Heavy chest
Slightly difficult to breathe at first
Sore throat

Gets worse as the day progresses

I'm better now but that first 24 hours, man, even I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital.

I am also vaccinated. One of those break through cases.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

^ Glad to hear you're on the mend! :D

At this rate, most of us are going to get it at some point, just a matter of when. Thankfully (but depending on where in the world you are) a ton of people are vaccinated (and getting boosters more recently) so we're not seeing the same hospitalization and ICU spikes as before, relative to case numbers.

But unfortunately (at least here in Ontario) , the vast majority of ICU admissions right now (over 70%) are from those who are unvaccinated even though almost 90% of the province is fully vaccinated.

The 'Rules' in the UK change so often I've stopped bothering to read articles about Covid.

Isolate for 10 days, oh nope, 7 days but not at all if you live with someone who's got it but your fully jabbed but lateral flow every day - oh you can't there's none available - get a PCR, no don't get a PCR if you don't have symptoms, the Centres are closing down anyway, don't to to work, ummm no actually do go to work, wear a mask or not, doesn't matter you can claim to be exempt and no one has the powers to check this anyway, Christmas is cancelled errr nope we've changed our minds, party on folks just leave a window open, borders closed, borders open but you can't go to Blahland or Blahland they're on the Red List today but will be OK on Tuesday ..... it's like Fred Karno's flippin' Circus here.

My 87 year old neighbour was hospitalised on New Year's Day with breathing difficulties and put on a Covid Ward. They didn't actually test him for Covid until 4 days later !!! and he was negative, they just ASSUMED he had it because he's old and was wheezing badly. Turns out he had a routine chest infection easily treatable with antibiotics so they sent him home. No wonder the Hospitals are overcrowded.

I rather think most of us are going to get it in due course (or have done so already), one variant or other or one yet to emerge. I just hope the jabs stop us from getting ill enough to be hospitalised or croak.
