In real life next week, my gym membership is going to be upgraded (right now it lets me use the gym) to let me use swimming baths and saunas in my area, and I'm planning to start going once or twice a week, made this thread to find out if anyone else is interested in swimming :D .

Myself I've always loved it for the fact that it trains multiple muscles of your body - Biceps, triceps, shoulders, front (Pecs/abs) and the legs all get a workout plus it improves stamina and relaxes you.
200m Dunge, Rc, Mage and invention accomplished, + 120 Constitution/Slayer/Range/Summoning/Woodcutting/Mining/Defence/Strength and 110m fishing, got comp/MQC and 200m Fishing/Woodcutting/Mining as well as 120 herb/Farming/Cooking most 120s just Agility, Theiving, Hunter and Prayer left

Yes Sims, it does work the whole body really, if done effectively. And is less strain as well, as opposed to working out on land. Keep us posted on how this is going for you. :D

Are you going to go thru a regular routine of work outs and such or just swim ? Or both ?

Plus you're all nice and clean when your workout is over too!

Except for the fact that you'll walk out of the pool with more chlorine on your body than the Germans used in WWI.

Fortunately I have a pool in my yard. I think you'll have a lot of fun, its relaxing, but also refreshing. Even though you work your entire body you are always clean and cool. =w=

I used to competively swim on my school's team and can say swimming is a great workout! Make sure to take advantage of the provided equipment if available (or bring your own). Fins and paddles will speed you up and help focus and perfect your strokes. Any weights and resistance gear will help build strength. And the buoys or boards can take over for your legs/arms if you want to focus on a specific muscle group.

Which strokes do you like best?

I'd have to say Breaststroke, thanks for the advice on things to use :)

I really don't have any advice to give, but I agree that swimming is great and really fun. My father's house is right off of a lake and when I'm there during the summer I can swim to my heart's content. Almost every day when it's hotter out.

Like I wrote here recently, night swimming under the moon is the best. :)
