Support! This would give chefs like me more to work with, more interesting drops, and it would be fairly easy to train. Non-butchered meats could still be cooked, but would hold the chance of being poisonous (Or just damaging in f2p). More people would become fishermen, and it would add an increase of interest to, forsay, goblin meat. Would this introduce canibalism with human carcasses? Please say yes, runescape would become MUCH more interesting with it. And before people bash the idea of canabalism, keep in mind that many civilized cultures and religions support it. (Although I would never seriously consider eating a human carcass, it would be an interesting addition to runescape.)
After that odd, exciting note; support.

Edit: And I like the scavenging idea. It would broaden the scope of the skill, and make more people support it as a new skill.

I could imagine a quest featuring the butchering skill. LMAO.
Sounds like a decent idea for a new skill though :) I haven't read any of the other posts except for the first, but someone's probably already mentioned it. But you should add some future mini-game aspects of butchering? Something like a game that involves hunter or fishing (skillers) or killing monsters animals (regular players), then butchering, then cooking. And maybe make it like whichever team provides the most food for the kings banquet or whatever would win. Then add the usual rewards like exp and exclusive mini-game equipment.
Just tryin' to help out :)

As I figured it kills that presently dropped meat wouldn't change. As far as creatures that hadn't dropped meat, let just go with green dragons for the example, as you progressed through the butchery skill your ability to get more and better cuts from a kill would increase. So yes, a green dragon steak would have certain benefits but a green dragon filet mignon would have even better benefits.

Overall, I feel that this skill has too much overlap with cooking. I really don't see a use for it. Why should we make our food poisonous and hard to prepare for the sake of a skill. That's like taking a step backward so that we can take a step forward.
Overall, maybe we can tie this in with cooking, but I don't think its necessary to make a whole new skill, and I believe that there isn't a large enough amount of content in this field to delve into.

No, make this an add-on to "Cooking", and then they can RENAME cooking to something else.
Cooking is already useless. What's the point of cooking fish when you can just buy it. That's the only use cooking really has, and training it.
So just add this to cooking and it'll become a more useful skill.
This is a dying game. Everything about it is just gaining XP and levels for a stupid cape, it's not about the unlocks. The skills are broken, combat system is dull and repetitive. And the MTX...lol.

Ive read this whole thread, and first thing i wanna say is, sav, you handle forum noobs like a pro.
Anyway,
What about pvp? If you could use these new butchered foods that heal more lp, pvp would become greatly unbalanced and battles would last way longer.so. thats a problem.
I also have a few ideas that I would like to share.
1. It could be so that a monster would drop a meat, but you could still just cook it directly. However, if you took the time to butcher it, it would heal more and possibly have other effects too.
2. Some, if not all, butchered meats should be untradeable. This would give players a good reason to train butchery, as it would be incredably useful in pvm and pvp.

As for this thread, you should take the time to put all good ideas for this skill sugestion on the front page of this thread.
