I returned last April after a decade away. I recently used the last of my dragonbane bolts. I went to make more and learned that they take forever to craft.

I understand why the smithing rework was done, but bolts don't exactly follow the same logic. Most armor / weapon drops were replaced with salvage yet you can still acquire most bolts as drops.

So here is my idea for speeding up ammo smithing. A mold! Bolt / arrowhead / dart molds. Perhaps they can be crafted and gradually degrade just to balance things out.

"Just use Jas arrows that you can buy"

Don't wanna. Also speeding up dragonbane bolts and others would be useful to lower level and or poor players.

"Dragobane bolts don't make much of a difference though"

Every little bit helps!

"Just use dragonslayer perk"

Multiple buffs are a thing. Look at all the stacking anti-undead tricks we have.

"The buff isn't worth the time to craft them"

Exactly the point of this thread. Why not make an item a little bit more useful?

"This will ruin bolt prices"

The only ones worth anything are onyx+ as is, and baneful bolts and arrows can't even be traded with the exception of the elder god mommy ones.

"I once watched 5 minutes of a 293 minute game development video on YouTube narrated by a teenager, as a game development expert I'm telling you this would be very hard and expensive for jagex to implement. Do you want to pay $50 a month for membership to fund this?"

I do game development, this wouldn't be hard. It could be scripted similarly to cannonballs or jewelry.

It is, because I don't see why you would need to make a whole bunch of bolts.

Stocking up all at once saves time in the long run. As opposed to having to run and smith every few rune dragon trips.

You make 50 bolts at a time. It takes way longer to use them up than it takes to make them. I think it is plenty fast as it is.

Again, stocking up is preferable...and it's not logical for bolts to take as long to smith as most other metal items. Armor and weapons obviously require creating different / intricate parts to latch together. Bolts needn't be so complex as they're just small metal rods with a barb.

Stock up how much? With a hundred (just two bars) you can last easily several months, a whole inventory will last for years...
