Loot Ideas

1. With a skilling boss, it may be possible to build up your XP gain during the fight, and that XP only gets added to your XP if you complete the fight. If you fail the fight you get zero XP.

XP could potentially be boosted by hitting certain milestones during the fight.

2. Have three tiers of reward chest:
- Top level: Chance of rare item. No drops gained on failed rolls.
- Mid level: Tiny chance of rare item. Some mid level drops.
- Low level: No chance of rare item. Fairly frequent drops of decent items.

This will allow players to decide to go for the rare drops, or go for the average income drops. In my opinion, bossing should be about obtaining end-game items. Skilling (including Slayer) should be the main source of obtaining supplies for bossing. By choosing the low level chest, you should be able to be self-providing at the boss, but have no chance of obtaining the big loot.

3. Ability codices for skills:

- Double ditch: When barbarian fishing, go in with two hands to guarantee a double catch on the next attempt;
- Translucence: Turn pseudo-invisible to increase chance of success in pickpocketing and hunter;

Examples of Skill Bosses

1. Mission to free an ally boss

There is a prison of allied boss creatures that you must navigate to set them free. In a successful run, you'll manage to set free one of the creatures and they will go to the battle arena to fight the enemy.

On your next venture to the prison, the creature you freed before may not have been recaptured yet, so you'll have to free one of the others. This system could work similarly to the cooldowns of Big Game Hunter.

2. Agility Arena Troll

In the depths of Brimhaven Agility Arena, there lies a troll with a lust for treasures. Navigate the dark caves below the arena using your Agility skills and evade capture to get to the chest of goodies. However, with it being so deep below ground, teleportation is not possible, so you must escape with your loot.

Perhaps some entrepid NPCs will come with you and aid in your escape, for a share of the coin that is.

3. A Very Wealthy Merchant

Amongst the bustle of Ardougne Market, a very wealthy merchant does his business. However, it's clear he hasn't made all his dough selling bread to the Knights and Paladins. He's into some shady business, and mistrusts everyone - particularly the banks.

Use your pickpocketing skills to relieve him of some of that burden he carries around on himself, although be sure not to get caught. He has a very long memory - unless you have a memory-wiping potion at hand.

For mechanics on how this could work, please check out my thread .

4. Robot Wars

Construct, equip, and train your very own battle golem that will go head-to-head with an NPC. Obtain knowledge as you go, learn new skills to add to your Invention, and build your golem to withstand even the toughest of enemies.

Your golems will be able to go up against specifically made NPCs for boss encounters. However, it could also be fun to, say, duel them!
