Aren't the t90 shields all incredibly cheap? Like in the 1.5-2.5m range?

Seems like it would be a pretty big stretch to make the time required for gathering the materials to make these to be even moderately in that range of value. Could be okay for a mid level player if you unlocked that scroll right off, but otherwise you'll be in t90 range before you ever gather the parts.

rs isn't about only making end-game gear. if it was, why do we have bronze/iron/steel/mith etc. the tier 85 shield gap needs to be filled, regardless that there is a better shield out.

Resonance with a Superior Shîrudo equipped:
All attacks you receive within 6 seconds will heal you instead of harm you. Heals 50% of the incoming damage and an additional 0.5% for every shield level. Certain large Boss attacks will have their damage prevented, but will not heal.

Resonance normally has a 6 second duration and a 30 second cooldown. This cooldown can be reduced by using the preparation ability, which makes all attacks against you in the next 10 seconds reduce the cooldown of resonance by 3 seconds and has a 20 second cooldown of it's own.

I'm all for coming up with something for the ports gear so as to give it a set effect that is useful for tanking, but I don't think the solution is to make it so that resonance, a basic ability, function even better than immortality, an ultimate ability, does at its job. That seems more than a little overkill.

Basically agree with everything this guy said. Maybe take the buff down a notch.

How about making it replace the effect of preparation with the same effect resonance gives? So essentially the same overall effect of the normal preparation, but without the need to take damage in order to speed up the process. Would make it handy for bosses that hit slow and hard.

For further reference, prep has a cooldown of 20s, resonance of 30s.

Or maybe a passive that occasionally triggers the resonance effect automatically and without putting resonance on cooldown. Slim chance, though - maybe about 5% at max. This would function a lot like an invention perk, and I personally like my first idea better but I wouldn't rule this one out of the picture.

p.s. Lots of support for this thread tho.

Or maybe each one can have a different passive effect. Maybe Tetsu can have a 5% chance reflect 10-20% dmg back at the opponent, Death Lotus could have a 2%-3% chance of ignoring a hit completely (Kind of like Lucky perk), and the Seasinger on could have a 5% chance of restoring prayer by 6% of dmg taken. Or switch them around or tweak them. There's a lot of possible passive effects and I think Jagex is starting to get into them after seeing the Nightmare Gauntlets.

Not sure about an effect overlapping with an invention perk's effect. Even less sure about having different perks for diff styles since I don't want to feel inclined to use a melee shield while maging, etc. But if brainstorming possible passive effects, I'll list down a couple more I can think of.

- Chance for the shield to act as the equivalent off-hand weapon for an attack - for example, if wielding the ranged shield, it would throw an off-hand death lotus dart in legacy mode or an ability in EoC would do damage factoring in the mainhand plus an off-hand death lotus dart.

- Doubles the damage reduction of anticipate - from 10 to 20 percent.

- Applies the effect of resonance to entire bleeds, rather than a single hitsplat - only applications I can think of for this are Tuz and PvP, though.

- This one is a little complicated, since it somewhat overlaps with the purpose of intercept and might not suit a shield's passive very well but I personally want this to happen so;
Allows you to cast defensives on other players at the cost of your own adrenaline and ability cooldowns - effects of debilitate and revenge are questionable, I'm mainly thinking reflect/immortality/barricade/resonance.
