*Monks didn't really use shields either, but one of the weapons could be a spear with an armour plate attached. :)
they weren't popular but still were used. the fact is there are no t85 shields and this is a good way to complete the set. that spear with an armour plate attached sounds good though! support ;)

but then again the issue of having no t85 shields remains...

ah. I see your point. It doesn't last as long as barricade but it can heal (if lucky). I guess they are similar strength overall. regardless, I think the effect should be strong and nearly comparable in strength to the "achto effects". strange how achto gets a damage buff to the shield when it is tank gear... but the defence ability cooldown reset is appropriate.

I think the shield should get a very powerful defensive effect, close to an ultimate, such as the one I suggested. if it is a passive effect, perhaps make it like sgs passive effect... only, every time you block a hit, you'll have a chance to heal 4% lifepoints and some prayer.
or perhaps, every time you block a hit, you heal 1% lifepoints and 1% prayer.
do you have an "effect" that you'd like to suggest?

we already have headpieces, aura's are always bought from the loyalty store, I guess we could use a necklace but i'd prefer a shield personally. thanks for the response! :)

I feel like this should be a reward unlocked from the Skull region (if they ever get around to releasing the regions that are after the Arc).

I doubt Jagex will let that suggested passive effect fly, tho. What about a chance of murderous orokami spirits spawning to fight for you briefly, whenever the shields are struck? Or a chance of fortunate orokami spawning and healing you?

Alright so I just posted a thread like an hour ago or so about a corp beast hard mode, fighting the spirit one again. And of course loot idea I had to include a spirit shield concept. Now I mention in the thread shields are heavily underrated because people want the dps to kill things faster thus taking less damage as well as saving time. Plausable fix to me was some sort of damage buff, or a buff to the defense ability Revenge. Either while wearing the shield the cool down of revenge is reduced, allows for an extra stack or two, or increases duration of the ability itself. Another idea I came up with was something like the DFS, a built in ability that can be activated, separate from eoc abilities. For instance since my shield idea is the new spirit shield, I thought it would be epic to summon a dark core on your target to damage it and heal you like it does in corp. Now obviously you want a tanky ability... so maybe something like reducing cooldown of reflect or increasing duration - this would be significantly helpful in AoD as a tank or any other boss that isn't immune to reflect. As for an activatable ability, maybe something such as reflect 100% damage of the next hit you take, capping at 7.5k or 5k against monsters, and 2.5k in pvp? (cap because you don't want to reflect the 55k scissor kick from Kalphite King lolz.)

Could be anything really tbh, but that res buff is wayyyyyyy overpowered.... 6 seconds is enough for 3-4 hits of a boss, in multi, even more. For example, nex has insanely high accuracy and hits 1-3ks..... sometimes 4k+ without prayers on... so you put SS on and pop this ability, full health guaranteed. Preparation and its ready pretty fast.

if you make the shield have more dps than duel/2h, then no-one will use duel/2h.
also with reducing reflect cooldown, I don't think that should work in pvp.
I had a similar idea of making some of the defensive abilities last longer

To spend months getting superior ports armour and not get a set effect that is related to tanking, or even combat in general is quite a let down. I suggest in addition to its current loot set effect, that it increases all defence ability durations that have a self-buff/debuff on opponent, last an extra 1 second. This would result in a tiny bit more healing from ultimates and protection from damage negating abilities. It'll also be slightly offensive with reflect and revenge lasting an extra second.

I wonder if my 6 second resonance would be overpowered... if only I could test it out :P
