Tokens seem weaker suddenly, a loss of faith due to the oddment store update, fear that additional tokens could be added. Maybe we were due a selloff, but I doubt many additions will be made to the oddment store.

I don't understand how Santa paws are still holding up around 18m, when you could get them for 2k oddments.

1. End use demand still exists, just much less. Some will prefer to pay 18m rather than 2k oddments.

2. Some believe Santa paws are more likely a discontinued token now, better chance it will never return. So, in that sense, paws are an edible, like easter eggs. You can collect them, but they sit in your bank.

Meditation rests are quite high, but they were in the oddment store at one point. (I wasn't playing then; I'm repeating what I've been told.)

3. As with phats, no matter how many sellers are out there, if none are willing to sell for less, then the price doesn't fall. Sellers just hodl, and buyers eventually buy what they can, with supply hanging in the air until later.

I have ~26 santa paws. I'm not selling for less than I paid. They currently inb a little lower than I paid. I don't mind holding for a long time, but I would sell if Jagex rereleased the actual tokens.

4. Did you make that name because of comments by someone in particular? Good name.

5. Hoarders don't necessarily make sense. This is a game. I randomly bought seasons chests recently. Do you think I know what I'm doing? People with money just buy things. Then, later, they sell. It doesn't always make sense.

to add on that:

the average drops you get from treasure hunter consists of white and yellow quality: = 10/50 oddments if you exchange that for oddments only its like 100 oddments for a yellow quality itemif it gets doubled(idk if its a total of 50 or 50x2 for exchanging them)

thats like +- 20 keys because 2000/100=20 which is 2 bonds (15 keys per bond)

if its not double its 2000/50=40 which is 3 bonds.

1 bond is atm like 24-25m?.

so buying it for 18m is way cheaper than spending 2-3 bonds to buy keys to get the oddments to get that item.

(keep in mind i only used white quality/yellow quality) there are also other qualities that give more oddments but these qualities appear more common than red and purple.

getting a purple is like 1k making it 2* less expensive with 1 purple drop. which is 2x 500 oddments

I think with the amount of oddments i did a poor job because i dont get how those exchange to oddment mechanics work. just wanted to point out that right now those paws are way cheaper than for 2k oddments in the store.

If i am correct adding items to the oddment store does not affect the supply of tokens in game, they can be still bought out and pushed up, but will be difficult to do so as less people are consuming the token now. You can counter argue and say items that are being added to the oddment store might not be released in token form again, adding to their value. All depends on how you perceive it and which way you are biased. I do believe jagex will be adding more content to the oddment store, but we must understand jagex is motivated by profit as all corporations are. So they still want people to buy keys the future releases on the oddment store might have a high cost of oddments, possibly more then 50k+ especially for high demand items like walks. The only thing this will do is put an cap on the price of tokens and make it difficult for hoarders to take prices to extreme levels. The way I see this is, Jagex will stall price of tokens from going to extreme levels but at the same time set their own value in terms of oddments. You will have to figure out the value of oddments in gp to get an better understanding. Players have been asking for jagex to re-release specific tokens this might be their way of doing it. sorry for the long write up, :p .

Phats are basically veblen goods right?

"A Veblen good is a type of luxury good for which the demand for a good increases as the price increases, in apparent contradiction of the law of demand, resulting in an upward-sloping demand curve. A higher price may make a product desirable as a status symbol in the practices of conspicuous consumption and conspicuous leisure. A product may be a Veblen good because it is a positional good, something few others can own." -Wikipedia

Interesting.

I didn't fully know what the word meant.
