The impression I get is no one knows what's what, not even Jagex.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Jmods in charge in a couple years don't forget that phats were discontinued and just release them again, like with turkeys. Or, instead, make them untradeable.

Dreaming is free. ;)
Rubber turkeys came back. They might well make rares untradeable since players supposedly reacted badly to turkeys returning.

Jagex doesn't seem to like hoarders and wealth. That's partly why we see such inflation. But if there's no way to preserve wealth from inflation, and rares are the only way, then maybe fewer would play.

If you are worried about jagex re-releasing rares keep an eye on MacArthur holdings which is a shell company still indirectly owned by Fukong llc. Most funds before they sell their holdings do whatever it takes to increase profits to lure in big bidders. So abusing MTX to an extreme extent and re-releasing rares is a possibility, to capitalize on what's left of the game. So they can show higher profits in the short-term to attract big investors. If Fukong plans to keep jagex we will see re-releases but at a very slow pace they will avoid disappointing the majority of player base. The possibility of re-releases increase exponentially if they want to sell jagex that's when I believe we will see the dismantling of what's left of the game, for short-term gains. Just my opinion based on what I have seen other publicly/private companies do. Accumulation of wealth at one pole is at the same time accumulation of misery, agony of toil, slavery, ignorance, brutality, mental degradation, at the opposite pole - Karl Marx. Capitalism needs to be reformed around the world especially in the US.

I personally don't think the 'majority' of the player base would complain if rares got re-released. I think you're getting the majority mixed up with the rares market, which may seem like a majority cause they talk a lot, but in reality is a minority of the actual player base.

The majority of the player base would actually prefer the prices to come down, hence why they had to actually address it on a livestream a couple months ago.

If they re-released rares, I imagine a lot of the people in the rares market would just quit or sell their gold for whatever is left of its value. But by no means would it disappoint the 'majority' of the player base. The majority of the player base doesn't even own 1b

I'm sure certain people or groups even go as far to buy up as many rares that re-enter as possible to maintain the value. Which would just increase the popularity of the MTX event of rares re-entering. Won't be able to buy everything twice.

We're at a point in RS where a party hat set could soon be worth 500b+ or lose like 70% of their value depending on how Jagex handle the market (if they decide to even handle it) over the next couple years.

Tbh I know what I'm hedging my bets on, and I personally don't have a very positive outlook for the market given the updates I think should come, and believe are coming.

Also, I don't think they'll re-release rares anytime soon. It's far too late for that. If they decide to sell the company, then I still doubt they would. You would lose the elite tier items that most games even with MTX have. They may as well just make loot boxes instead and just put a 0.001% chance on getting a phat. That would at least be a somewhat healthy way of re-introducing them, in regards to maintaining their value. Assuming they never change the drop rate to higher for sales etc.

It's a fair point you make though, there is a bit of hypocrisy in what I'm saying. I won't post to the thread again unless its for price checks.
You're just trying to help.

If a staker logs in needing to sell and someone buys 5b below market price, is that now part of the range? If a staker logs in needing to buy and someone sells to him 5b above market price, is that now part?

Pricing is difficult. Even stakers who know pricing often don't seem to mind throwing away 1 or 5b away. They will not stand around to trade.
