Rainbow stuff is too high! In the last few months, I paid 170m for the scythe, dunno the price currently. Rainbow is apparently rarer now, but maybe they'll increase the rate.
Jagex seems to want inflation, but it's sure making prices seem high.
Rainbow cape... ew. Maybe it looks good on a female char. The scythe is neat though. I own none of any of the tokens but have unlocked most. I missed the release of all or nearly all tokens, so I dunno the items well enough to merch them. I bought a lot of beach tokens, but I dunno what I'm doing.
I keep hearing of how rare certain tokens were at events, but I haven't seen such rarity in any event I've participated in, except for the ongoing GE cracker items which are already hoarded. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity.

Boys and Girls you need to remember the Wiki is run by the public and supported by Jagex so anything really can be posted there and often is.
If it says Discontinued it might very well be the item or items will not be back in game for a long time or for ever. So if thats the case it will end up on the List the F-Mods use to see whats a True Discontinued item.
List can be found RuneScape Trading Directory
If any Items are added to that list then Yes they can be posted within the Discontinued items section. If they are not on the list they belong either in Business, Services and Miscellaneous section or the Weapons, Armour & Skilling Supplies section.
You need to also remember Jagex are sneaky. They won't say if an item or items will be released ever again. This could be a reason to help stop manipulating or it maybe a ploy that Jagex may sneak them back in in a few years time.

The impression I get is no one knows what's what, not even Jagex.
I wouldn't be shocked if the Jmods in charge in a couple years don't forget that phats were discontinued and just release them again, like with turkeys. Or, instead, make them untradeable.
A previous thinking was there were different categories of "discontinued." So,
Category A:
Discontinued ..... Halloween mask, Party hat, Santa hat.
Discontinued ..... Disk of Returning, Easter egg, Half-wine, Pumpkin.

Category B.1: Christmas Scythe, Christmas Tree hat, Holly Wreath, Rubber Turkeys, Fish mask.
