I understand that it's literally a "rare" item but I think it might be to rare, to a point.
if something is so rare that nobody can get one then why is it in the game at all?

I'm in a clan of 200+ people and they are grinding wrapping paper, some are using multiple accounts, and I don't know a single person who has even got a gold present let alone a GSH

Making it that rare was a mistake, you did good with the golden partyhat shards but this is silly.

Somehow it is important for Jagex to follow a good idea with a terrible one.

They get praised for the party hat so they turn around and sell tickets for a super rare green santa hat. Which they just invented.

They say literally nothing about when the event starts or ends, then they run off for holiday.

I'm hoping the last one out turned off the lights, or else we gonna get stuck with a MTX electric bill in January. Probably some leaky faucets in there too.

The Green Party Hat is rare but not discontinued, much like all the Hero items in game.

If you really want one, you can buy one from another player. If not, then it being rare doesn't have any effect on you.

I agree that the golden party hat shards were a good way to bring the Golden Party Hats into the game, but for something like the Green Santa Hat, I do not think this would have worked very well. We essentially have two items here: one is common but discontinued, the other is rare but will be available to obtain in the future. We essentially have the best of both worlds.

I don't agree with you the slightest.

They Golden Partyhat was good in the sense that EVERYONE had a chance to get one, and thats fair enough.

But if they did make the GSH more common then whats the point? Its just gonna be the GPH 2.0 everyone will have one, and whats the fun in that?
Nah i think its good that jagex actually introduced something that is ultra rare.
Besides it might not even be an actual discontinued item, so they might aswell bump up the rarity instead.

Just giving my five cents on the topic.

If this thing is going to have any chance to hold any sort of value, it HAS to be really really rare. The GPH is about as rare as a rune dagger but at least its discontinued, right?

However i do have to add that i think this was a poor excuse of a holiday event. They should have made an official holiday event with some festive outfits or something else as a reward for completing it. You know, something fun everyone could be involved in.

The chances of reciving the GSH ingame without purchasing keys is astronomiaclly small, so they should have done something additional along with it.
