This is a joke, a lot of items are crashing except rares lol. The tax is stupid. Jagex has no control over their game. Dupes are constantly rumored/happening which fearmongers the community into economic chaos. The game does 0 to acknowledge it or debunk it which feeds the fire on the manipulation. It doesn't even matter if it is true or not anymore because we all know it will not get confirmed, denied or dealt with and the game gets more torn up every time.

Maybe, if they would pull their head out their roos and communicate with their player base like normal human beings the manipulation would not get out of hand. What cracks me up is they tolerate their mods going wild bronco on a 3rd party websites (reddit) but think it's BELOW them to do it on their own site.

partyhats over 6x-10x in a relatively really small amount of time, we all know something happened and just want you to fix it.

Well I think santa hats and h'ween masks are 10-15x their price. It just looks more extreme to partyhats because they already were in the billions. But when a blue was 5-10b for example, a santa hat was what.. 180-250m?

Ge tax might backfire for items in ge ppl will just buy the items in ge and try to sell for higher prices to compensate for the tax or just not sell in ge at all.

lol things like rares are manip'd to hell.

they'll all probally crash since you cant ge manip, that or idiots will try and go w2 to avoid a stupid tax.

I see ppl w2 trying to sell things like aura and green santa all the time.

Sorry but if I was legit buying those items I'd be buying VIA ge, because they are below max cash, sure theres buy limits, but like I can wait lmfao.

I'm gonna throw in my 2 pence here, I think they should get rid of all the rare price-checking threads on the forums as soon as the max-cash cap lifts. Let the G/E decide the prices of things, not a few merch clan members (and their alts) manipulating prices.
...
Sure, we can treat those threads with scepticism and do our own research, but would we even need them at that point? They'd serve more bad than good. I understand most rare sellers wont want to trade via G/E because of the tax, but some will! and over time that should give us their actual prices. I wonder if they'll manually set rare prices at first...

I agree with yo-blue, people dodging the G/E should cause them to go up, unless Jagex were to set rare tax at 1% tax instead of 2%? I can see them considering something like that.
Hypothetically, if tax were 1% and I wanted to sell my Santa for 3b, I'd take the 30m hit.
I expect to make or lose 50m when flipping 3b rare in W2 so it's pretty much the same thing.

Here's an idea, flip the tax (of rares) so the buyer pays 2% and not the seller. That way rare holders will be happier to sell their items via G/E. More trade volume, more taxed, more accurate pricing / less manipulation. I don't know whether this would work but it's a thought!

Who cares to pamper a rare holder. The rares are the damn problem in the game. Screw rares and move on so the game can breathe.. the novelty of owning one has become a desperation to maintain manipulated wealth.

The only reason they likely didn't release the max cash update yet is because at whatever price they set them at in the ge will be a very slow mover from there. So they are hoping a price decline first which isn't happening.. They'll likely put update rules on them like second age so people cannot manipulate ge price too easy which screws low volume items. It's all fail so far as expected by this management.

The environment has been favorable for the rare market with dupes and covid all caused a surplus of gp and a demand for rares . And when jagex destroyed 90% of the token market that was serving as a competition to rares, all that GP went into rares as hoarders dumped their tokens which once were thought as limited or discontinued and bought phats, santas etc. This backstopped the price decline that should have happened in rares by now.

This will have no Impact on rares with the GE tax. If they remove max cash then it will make rares easily accessible through GE which means more demand. Thus increase in price. Inflation is never good and the reason why OG rares are where they're at. Supported by the company.

The market will probably be a bit unstable at first, but after that it should slowly but steadily recover since there's still more money being injected into the game than removed. Rares will still be a good investment.

We won't see 300b blues any time soon but it could hit 150-180b again this year. Under normal circumstances.

I recommend you make use of the unstable market at first (if you can) and pick up some cheap rares :) Because I do think a small dip or crash will happen first.
