rares dont matter
theres lots of items over max cash and always will be with new content

mentally wearing rares is an ego thing, thats a negative of society and part of jagex grooming

too much american influence, chasing the yanky dollar for what?

if you look at the game
only the dark aspects of runescape rewards players

actual players dont make gp

weve seen people sell items for a personal highscore of world record sale

when tax is out and no max gp ge , youll see a difference
and jagex will see people playing the game not bank standing world 2
and ofcourse bond sales revenue

Ya'll sitting here discussing like it aint the same 10 people trading one another to manipulate prices. Rares will crash and burn once they're in the GE. Anyone who sits on one that hasn't manip'd their way to it is in for a rude awakening. GE is the end of this cesspit once and for all.

i predict a backfire in this GE taxing as solving the real problems of the game which was rares sucking the life out of it. This will just further the wealth gap because the wealthy will not use the GE and everyone else in the game will.

You underestimate player convivence, rares will be traded on GE as they were before even with the wealth tax. I think many players would rather pay the 2% than take risk of getting scammed. Buying and selling rares is time consuming atm, with the GE you can just put in a limit order and go. this will help real price discovery increase liquidity and end manipulation to some extent. Everything jagex does is with a big delay when the damage is already done lmao.

I don't think there's a risk of getting scammed when the new max cash is live. Whether you see 50b in GE or in trade shouldn't make a difference. People can miss a 0 when entering their GE price as well, so..

Way more than 10 people and whether you like it or not, I'm afraid these prices weren't manipulated. The prices they hit were all due to inflation. And people actually paid those amounts. More players becoming a multi-billionaire but with only a limited supply of certain items makes an easy sum.

Simple example:
10 people have 10m. There are only 2 santa hats worth 5m a piece.
The same amount of people now have 20m due to inflation and the money they made. There is now way more room to overbid eachother which causes the price of santa hat to go up. GP keeps being injected, santa hats aren't. It's therefore not lucrative to sit on cash. It's much more likely to make money while sitting on a santa hat.

This basically happened on a grand scale to the RS economy.

Another example is people hating on rare prices but are completely fine with a 12b blood dye or whatever blood dye peaked at.

This makes me wonder; are these players sad they missed the sky-rocket boat or are they mad they undersold their rare? Or does it seem impossible to achieve getting a rare themselves now?

It is more than 10 people but these were heavily manipulated and hyper-inflated connected with 2020 dupe. Several thousands of Santa hats were completely bought of GE and everything else followed, it was not natural rise of 500% in such a short period of time.
Of course people paid that price at end because they had no other option and gold is getting progressively easier to make as the time passes by, rares get even more scarce etc.
Blood dye is 7-8B but that item is effectively getting removed from game.
The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.

Unfortunately, I feel like inflation is so far blown out of proportion over the years that it'll take so long for even a G.E. tax on essentially-even everything like this to show any noticeable difference, really :( .

Agreed.

For every deflationary measure, it seems like there's several sources of inflation. Why haven't cash/money bags been removed from presents? Those medium cash bags add up, for players that are maxed they result in 100k+ of new GP being added in. I'd be curious to know how much GP was introduced from this recent Christmas promotion through the cash bags opened up from presents.

I do think the GE tax will result in slowing growth, but I think we've already witnessed the effects of the correction.
