This is the #1 issue I have when trying to bring my friends into the game.
The World is tiny and graphically out-dated.
The upside to making the game superior in size and graphics is gigantic! I'm sorry to break it to the jagex team, but this game is neither competitive in size nor graphics to other MMO's ESPECIALLY now that they are raising the price.
Bigger game, better graphics = more players joining the runescape experience GUARANTEED......

Just explain what you want, and why you think it would be good for Runescape and the potential benefits to the player. Let Jagex worry about the 'how'. Then remember to include a QFC to a forum thread to contain more information, feedback and discussion about the idea (this gets around the 2000 character limit.)
Seems like a good idea. I'll be taking a look at all this thread's responses when I consider what to write.

what if we're secretly very large, but have been led to believe our entire lives we are the norm and the world is just small
probably the case
This would be an update that could potentially save the game, and rejuvenate what little hope there is left. The new price increase would be completely justified if they planned on scaling up the entire world.
Great to still see this thread around on the Future Updates Forum! Again, I support this idea as it is the one true way to solve the problem of the world becoming too densely packed with content and too small (Karamja and Port Sarim visible in one spot).
Again I urge people to be realistic and realize that making all cities up to scale would be a massive job, simply not possible with the assets available (not now and not in 5 years). Instead the space between the cities should be increased and just by adding environment. Getting this to work is enough for a XXL project (probably even more).
Mod Matthe's reply doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I wouldn't get too hopeful of seeing this idea being made any time in the forseeable future (unless it gets a massive amount of support from runelabs), as assets needed to get this to work will likely be used on other big (yet smaller than this) projects (construction rework?
).
Still, increasing the world would brting back the true adventure spirit again: adventuring, exploring new areas you have never been to simply due to the scale of the world.
Please put this idea in runelabs and notify the community here. I for one will definitly support this idea, as will probably many others that have posted in this thread. Just be certain of the formulation of this idea, as once submitted it can't be changed. If needed post the 2000 word version here first so people can give feedback on it
Oh and don't worry about the size of this idea: even if it is not wanted now it will still stay on runelabs for when they do plan to work on a XXL project. If anything having this idea in runelabs (and referred to here) longer will result in more people knowing about it, meaning more support!

I would love to see this and have wondered this myself quite a few times, but like Mod Matthe said, this would be a HUGE project. I'm sure Jagex have higher priority tasks for Runescape, but hopefully we can see this in the future

That's deluded. This would be a
massive
undertaking that would accomplish little more than removing most transportation methods in the game and nerfing running to require a decent agility skill/low weight again would. The world used to
feel
bigger because we had more trouble navigating it, and had to navigate it more often. Now we teleport everywhere, so it feels small.
If you want RS to feel bigger, pick up Old School, or, even better, Classic with its fatigue system and complete lack of running. I don't advocate us ever going that far backwards convenience wise, only ensuring that all transportation methods are either significantly expensive or
earned.
