I do not think RoP should have a boss fight. I'd like to see more focus on dialogue, etc. rather than combat for once.

As for the Seren thing, I think it is imperative to avoid quests, ESPECIALLY lore-heavy quests like this one, becoming "endgame" content (no pun intended). Throwing in massive grindy skilling requirements behind quests like this is not optimal if you want more players to care about the lore of the game, and some players who do care about the lore may not be able to play quests like this because of the hefty skill requirements the Endgame has...
To those cursed by war and pest, Come into the light of Armadyl and rest. This is the law of Armadyl.

Hey guys,

So reading through your replies, generally it seems like a boss fight isn't vital for your enjoyment of the quest and you'd prefer a focus on puzzles and character interactions. That's good to know, I can work with that. :)

I'm a little less sure about setting it post endgame, so I've made my life easier with this poll:

http://www.strawpoll.me/14856057

Note that ROP will not be a massive sprawling epic, Endgame style, regardless of the outcome (it won't be a ten minute quest either, don't worry). But whether we set it post or pre endgame will determine the narrative paths we choose and if set pre endgame we'll also need to devote a not unreasonable chunk of dev and QA time in changing the dialogue in Endgame based on the player's quest state. Given that endgame is 50k words, that's not a small task.

Also, as a reminder, ROP is no currently in development. This information is for me to do some of the design work in my TAPP time for it (in the hopes of getting it developed sooner rather than later). Once I've got this design sorted I'll be returning back to the citadel TAPP project.

Hey Autumn Elite,

I appreciate constructive criticism as much as the next man, but please try and least be on topic. I've hidden your post because it does not relate to the subject of this thread, nor any of the questions involved.

Feel free to raise any of these points in the appropriate forum (rants given the content) but please do not hijack other people's threads to do so.

I do not think RoP needs to take place after Endgame. It was originally supposed to come before and though it probably has changed, it shouldn't really have an impact on Endgame at all.

I think it can come after, but still not require Endgame. If we keep requiring Grandmasters for Grandmasters, we are going to have an endless stream of Grandmasters. Maybe add post quest mini quest or post quest rewards that requires Endgame, but I don't think the quest itself needs it as a requirement.

Armadyl wasn't originally supposed to be included, we were just journeying to his home world with other Aviansies to take on the Rite of Passage.

This quest is a quest to learn more about Armadyl and the Aviansies and therefore, I think it should be accessible to everyone or mostly everyone. If it requires Endgame then everything after it is going to be stuck behind a large chain of quests.

This quest can be a stand alone for the most part in my opinion like it was supposed to be. Just because it is a God based quest, it doesn't need to be linked to other god based things and we definitely don't need every single quest in the 6th Age to be Grandmaster. At the rate we are going, everything is going to be Grandmaster. That chain needs to be broken.
Come the Sixth-Age, the world will need the World Guardian.

I've hidden your post because I can’t handle the rightful criticism and calling out of my hypocrisy that you have done with facts and examples. I am abusing my powers to stifle those I disagree with because our egos at Jagex need constant praise, even if we don’t deserve it.

I have taken the case to Forum Moderation Review. It was perfectly on topic and you know it. Using past examples of how your excuses on not doing Rite of Passage don’t hold water is definitely relevant to this thread. Unhide my post immediately.

Not a single point in your comment was relating to the discussion at hand. Each point related to entirely different and unrelated pieces of content. I read your feedback, but it is not relevant to this discussion. I will therefore not be unhiding it.

Please feel free to repost it in its own thread , in the appropriate forum , it is not appropriate in this thread.

So if I repost my comment on a new thread in General and reword my comment keeping its message intact - that you are a hypocrite and a liar - but that more clearly links to the topic I can post it here?

Then I shall do so by the end of the day.

I'm not sure how you got that from my statement and I'm going to ignore the obvious attempt to insult me, but I shall summarise in a clear format to make life easier:

Use this thread if:

* If you have constructive comments to add regarding this discussion. I.e Rite of Passage and the current plans to develop it. e.g you have an opinion regarding whether it should be post Endgame, or you personally believe it should have a boss fight.
* You have a direct answer to a question that has been posted here that is on the topic of this thread. I.e if someone posts "how do you feel about skilling related quests" (in resonse to a suggestion that RoP purely require skilling rather than combat) and you respond with the skilling quests you've enjoyed, the elements of them that worked and the elements of them that did not work. Note using the question to answer on a completely unrelated subject is not appreciated and may be hidden depending on the level of disruption. E.g If asked about skilling quests you shouldn't then go on a diatribe about the mining and smithing rework, as there are more appropriate threads for that discussion.

Use another thread if:

* Your post is not related to the subject of the thread. As per the original post.
* You have constructive feedback related to Jagex's handling of updates that are not related to this thread.
* You want to discuss another unrelated topic but are using this thread because you've noticed a Jmod being actively involved. If your thread is strong enough on its own, it will receive the attention of a Jmod (forums are read regularly and useful threads are quickly brought to our attention).

Do not use the forums if:

* You just want to flame someone. It's never appropriate and it's not useful.

Hopefully this makes things clear.

I will no longer be responding to this topic, so I would politely request that you refrain from disrupting further.

With that said. I apologise to the creators of this thread and everyone involved for this discussion disrupting the thread and I politely request your forgiveness. I posted a discussion point a bit back regarding whether Endgame should be a requirement for this quest and I would appreciate your thoughts as it will help direct the design I work on in my TAPP.

Let us return to the discussion at hand. :)
