Thank you for making this post, Mod Raven. I agree with you that we should try to make the past quarrels water under the brigde, and look forward. It's really great to hear that you are confident that it's more a matter of when than if regarding RoP now. :D

It's also great to hear that you too Aeldari are willing to let the past be past and look forward too (Which you might argue that you have been all the time ;) )
And it's great to see that you haven't abandoned the thread completely, Armadyn! ^_^ :P

Regarding lore that could be interesting to see:

Also, would RoP canonically take place before or after Sliske's Endgame?
Or would the story be designed to run parallel/on its own so if something were to happen to Armadyl, the story could stand on its own (ie the focus more on the avianese and armadyls past and personality)

The main important things (to me) would be:

1. The Ascension of Armadyl and the Elder Artefact on Abbinah.

I'm not so sure we need to know about where Armadyl found the Staff of Armadyl quite yet, since it wasn't on Abbinah and it wasn't on Gielinor. This, I think, can be possibly hinted at, and covered in a sequel.

2. What the Guardians of Armadyl have been up to since RotM, and how they've changed and begun anew since the BatB events. Human Armadyleans are also very important to me, and they haven't gotten nearly all the attention they deserve.

3. Whatever else you want to give us. I'd overall just like to have Aviansies portrayed as more than just "those bird-people who follow Armadyl." I trust you'll know what is best to show us, what is best to hint at, and what is best to leave for later quests.

People might picture Abbinah to look something like the Runespan, but in reality, the world of Abbinah is far more unstable and dangerous. Moving between islands should be more than a matter of simply clicking and waiting. I like Bally-Hoo's idea of using the WASD keys to dodge obstacles as we glide in the skies between the islands - the quicktime event on the Darkness path at Araxxor works well enough for this kind of a thing. We could also, as a little bonus, have the ability to catch various things as we fly, and do to so, we'd click on them, similar to how we have to click on floating icons in The Light Within or Beneath Cursed Tides . The screen wouldn't be quite as crowded; these would be somewhat less common.

Perhaps also a non-clunky way of interacting with Aralim in some way. Perhaps they will be the one to catch the various things in our flight together?

And additionally on mechanics, I've been wondering how a human will return from the core of Abbinah. If I were actually an Aviansie, I'd think that simply teleporting back to the start point would be cheating. This whole ritual is based on something that existed even before Armadyl, and back in those days, they didn't have teleportation or shortcuts - they had to fly back up from the core. Thus, the best way to do this for a human is balloons. We'll be going down to the core with a small pack on our back, and in that pack will be compressed gas and some balloons. Once we're finished at the core, we'll rip a cord and up we go through another series of quicktime WASD events.

Hopefully this all should be feasible to do. (I'd also hope that the controls will be more responsive than the Lava Falls sequence from Children of Mah , which I believe was based on the Agility activity from the beach...)

And of course, the ability to resume from where we left off if we die or have to lobby or something. Post-quest, perhaps we can use the portal to Abbinah/the jumping-off point for the quest as a way to quickly return to a chosen island. The game will pretend we did the WASD thing perfectly and plop us right down on the island.

Lastly, the core should be DANGEROUS. VERY DANGEROUS. I'm hoping to see lightning and rockfalls from colliding islands here. It should be safe(r) during the quest, as I don't think people would want to feel rushed through dialogue at this stage, but anyone crazy enough to go back should be at a huge risk - but there should also perhaps be something rewarding down there; perhaps the most rewarding skilling should be at the Core.

All that said, I don't want to get too crazy and have all kinds of mechanics take away from the most important thing here, which is the lore and story of the quest itself.

And a final note on travel: there's several options here. Humans (meaning us, and Guardians of Armadyl) travelling around Abbinah could utilize any of the following:

1. a hang glider (which is what I believe the Aileron, which means "wing," basically is)

2. a wingsuit (something basejumpers use IRL)

3. a parachute, or parasail.

In any case, we'd be somewhat at the mercy of the winds...

Remember the old Spirit-religion-story-thing you told us ages ago? Could you get that written down in a book ingame?

Armadyl's Ascension, obviously.

The New Armadyn, and their info.

The Origional Guardians of Armadyl (the origins of the order, original purpose, that kind of stuff)

Any gods that may have visited, or passed through the planet during Armadyl's time as a god.

Maybe some more stuff about what Arma did after the God Wars before returning to Abbinah. (and anyone/anything that he brought back with him

Globe trotting is always fun, but being on Abbinah, and with the limited islands concept, that'll be kind of hard, I guess. Globetrotting on the mainworld isn't the same anymore, because of Lodestones (not that I'm complaining about Lodestones)

Lots of Examines.

I liked the suggestions a couple of pages ago about Aviantese walking around and chatting about stuff. Also Armadyl writing books and keeping them in the Citadel library (when that TAPP comes around)

I'm so happy to hear this, and really do hope that we get to see it next year. I kinda have a good feeling about this though. Sorry if any of my comments are lore-fails, not as knowledgeable as other people on this thread regarding Armadyl by any means! :D

• Bad figures and villains within Aviansie society, thus opening up more stories within Abbinah. Every world has its villains, right?
• Aviansie Smithing

Mechanics

• Exploration
• Island jumping
• Gathering & skilling from the different islands (Aviansie Smithing)
• Content through the world gate
• Perhaps include Avalani in some form? I'm sure she would love to visit Abbinah

Personally I'd like to make it post-endgame. There are some themes and moments from Endgame I'd like an excuse to explore further.

That said Endgame has really high stats and makes a big barrier for entry which makes it a difficult question.

I could make the additional stuff optional, but that makes it trickier for lore hounds as they'll have to pick the order they do things in.

Basic answer, I don't know yet, it's still something I'm having an internal conflict over. :D

Those who can't do Endgame have nobody to blame but themselves, why should they get to access a brand new dangerous world with juicy lore to discover and Aviansies to plunge into the planets core for funsies help out?

Oh, on the topic of Endgame/Armadyl though, if we do non-canon runs do we get to keep the items that we can get through certain encounters? IE Armadyls feather in this case. I need a new writing quill.
