Assuming it was 2013 that it was created, OS doesn't even have a 10 year veteran cape because it's not even 10 years old and the only veteran cape people can get in that version is the 5 year cape. So I'm 99.9% certain veteran capes are based off the age of the respective version of the game, not the total years Runescape has been around.

I was about a year or so off in my previous post, those who've been playing since RS2 existed which is 2004 will only be eligible for a 20 year cape in 2024/2025, there's years to go still before even we can get them. For those who started playing later than that? You might have to wait until closer to 2030 or later.

Except they've been tracking account creation since 2002 and had the option to transfer your account to RS2 when it launched.

Any account from RSC could transfer to RS2. For that matter, any account that existed in RSC can still be accessed elsewhere. You just won't have the same stats you had in RSC. They all use the same login.

My account would have the same age in RSC if it still existed as it does in RS3 as it does in OSRS. It isn't magically younger because OSRS came out in 2k13 or non-existent because RSC doesn't exist anymore.

Hell, you could log into RSC if you had access from an account that existed after RS2 launched.

20 year capes will exist, at earliest, in Feb 2022. Dunno how many people will be eligible at that point, but still.

I've been playing this for a long time so keeping exact tabs on everything that's happened over the years isn't easy. I know there's a certain year that tracking of an account starts but couldn't tell you off the bat what year that is IE. for account age or even the runemetrics profile (there's just no way I've been playing this for 413 days, as of typing this).

Hm. I swear I had no option but to create a brand new account when I moved from RSC to RS2, was that only available for members or was it available to everyone? Back then I was maybe 11 or around that age so I couldn't just freely subscribe whenever I wanted and was almost always F2P, then every now and again I'd have members. I vaguely remember members being able to transfer certain items from RSC to RS2 but that's about it.

If only I could remember the password for my RSC account to test that out but I suspect its long been deleted if Jagex wiped inactive RS2/RS3 accounts a few years ago unless you logged in before they did (I remember getting an email about that saying if my account wasn't logged in before that date it would be deleted).

I can say with 100% certainty that we were given the option when going from RSC to RS2 to transfer our items. The account itself was cloned to RS2. So if you transferred your items, your RSC account was left blank with it's preexisting stats and your RS2 account had the same stats with the items you previously owned on your RSC account.
** If you decided to keep your items on RSC, your account stats were still cloned to RS2


The Rune Metrics profile is referring to your in game time. You'll need to visit Hans in Lumby to see how old your account is, and he will also give you your in game time as well.

As the 15 year cape was released on Feb 6th of 2017, we'd simply count 5 years from it's release date. As previous people have already stated, though the game started in 01, tracking accounts did not start until later.
**Note: Design delays may keep the cape from releasing exactly 5 years from previous capes release date.

I'm more interested in actually being able to recolour the damn thing. This "blue/red/whatever bland color we want things to be" mentality has to cease. And since the last cape got Fire particles, the 20 Year should get the Smoke Particles.

Just seems a cape of 20 years, should actually come with some decent features.
It's not just some marvel accomplishment, a bland dull useless cape to display is hardly celebratory nor worthy of a release at all. Clan:

How many players are still around do you think from Feb 2002? I don't really play but would definitely log in to get my 20 year cape when its out. Joined in 2001 myself.

I've played since 2001. Back when there was a a single server. then 5. then 13. Back when Herblore was Herblaw. And you couldn't swear - and then there were roll up sleeping bags to rest :) Its been 20 years and I've paid every single month for 20 years. I love what RS has become - and what it is... so great <3 but 20 year cape should be coming soon!
