20 year veteran cape

February of 2002 is when Jagex began tracking the age of RS accounts. For the purposes of veteran capes, any account older than that is treated as if it had been created in February of 2002. Therefore, the absolute earliest date any account will be able to claim a 20-year cape will be February 2022. That's 17 months from now.
Of course, this also presumes Jagex will have such a cape available by then.

That's definitely a lot closer and sooner than I thought it was, I've no idea why I thought it was tied to the creation of RS2 - maybe I confused it with the account profile and when that was introduced (whenever that was).
Unfortunately for me, as this is technically my third account (RSC one no longer exists), it won't be until 2025 for me haha.

I believe you are correct, in a way.
Although Feb. 2002 is the date from which Jagex tracks the age of RS accounts (unless they have a later creation date), I'm pretty sure they didn't actively keep track of how old our accounts are until RS2 came along in 2004. So those accounts from Feb. 2002 to early 2004 were grandfathered in. Aslon Dak: Still 'Scaping after 19 years!
