Polled Quests:
An Implementation Plan

For all of those who don't know, below are the percentages of players who support the following quests. Note that all of these got a significant percentage of the playerbase, with even the Violet is Blue sequel having support of over 1/3 of players.

This then raises the question of how best to make them, when, and in what order. The following posts contain my 2 cents, (and possibly yours as well). What would you do if you were Jagex with this data?

[66.5%] Desert Treasure 2
[65.7%] Temple at Sennisten 2
[65.1%] Dragon Slayer 2

---------------------------------
[64.4%] Skillcape Quest
[61.6%] Origins of Zaros
[61.6%] Back to the God Wars
[61.2%] White Knight Finale
[61.0%] Elf Storyline
[60.7%] Barrows-Search for Death
[59.7%] Menaphos Finale
[57.0%] Who is the Raptor
[53.4%] Return of King Valliance
[53.0%] Riders of the Apocalypse
[52.7%] One of a Kind 2
[51.6%] Pilgrimage of Guthix
[51.4%] Vampyre Storyline
[51.2%] Araxxor Quest
[50.2%] Breaking History
[50.0%] Death of Wise Old Man
[50.0%] Monkey Madness 2

-----------------------------------
[43.7%] Sons of V
[39.6%] Thok Quest
[35.2%] Violet is Blue 2

And a bit of shameless self-promotion: my own quest series

To
me
, anything that half or more of the player-base wants is worth doing. I say we start with the low hanging fruit: those being
Dragon Slayer II
and
Monkey Madness II
, both of which are already done in OSRS, which gives us a template

Monkey Madness II
only got half the player-base's support, so it's probably NOT worth going all out on, but still worth doing. (The phrase "Anything worth doing is worth doing well" is a white lie!) Being able to travel around Ape Atoll without a Gregree is certainly useful. For this one, we'll probably import OSRS content heavily. Make this one a medium or medium high priority, because some of the work is already done.

Dragon Slayer II
got nearly 2/3s support, so that one gets a bit of a revamp. We'll also need a little bit of Zeah for this one, although the quest could just be done with Land's End and
Shayzien
. I would not want Jagex to move Cammora's key fragment--that would wreak the quest. Although alternatively, a teleport directly into the Shayzien crypts could be used. Still, this should be big, and will be worth big things like the southern tip of Zeah. Make this one a high priority, but it will take a lot of work, to get it right.

Everything else gets a little harder, because there isn't much of a template to go off of:

The
Elf
and
Vampyre
storylines were wrapped up pretty neatly, although we still have Priffindas's ground floor to explore, which inevitably brings up the possibility of
Zalcano
.

This also could fit in with Seren's plan to save Gielinor from the threat of the Elder Gods, with the Elves being Seren's most loyal followers. However I don't know how an Elf Quest could come out of this, unless we are to evacuate Gielinor (which seems unlikely due to how much development time went into Gielinor). Still, as was suggested by @Dilbert2001 , the elves could be Seren's trump card in this mess

Right now, there's only one Raid in RS3 (Mazcab). Jagex has been looking to add more Raids, so another
Vampyre quest
would be the perfect time to import the OSRS Vampyre raid (Theater of Blood). There are many people who don't play both games, and while both might seem redundant to people (such as myself) who play RS3 and OSRS, there are many people who don't play both games, and RS3 Combat is very different than OSRS combat.

That said, it would also be nice to do some more exploring of
Tarddiad
and
Vampyrium
, maybe learning some planar theory in the process. Both should probably be medium priorities, with Elf to the high side (especially if it's going to tie in with
Desperate Times
)
and Vampyre on the low side based on their poll results. Schedule release for within the next 5 years?

Violet is Blue
was a cute quest, but it suffered from way too linear gameplay. I personally found it boring at best and annoying at worst. Wait 10-15 years. Hopefully next time we'll get the lore in a form other than a book. (Lore books found in this way violate the storytelling concept of "show, not tell&quot ;)

Barrows: Search for Death
is an interesting quest idea, and has the potential to be epic if done right, but absolutely terrible if done wrong. High priority, but don't rush this one.

I always through that
Temple at Sennisten
was
Desert Treasure 2
(and that
Temple at Sennisten II
was
Ritual of the Majarrat
). Zaros came back in
Fate of the Gods
though, so this storyline doesn't have a lot of room. We've even covered Loarnab pretty in-depth. Make sure there's an actual idea in mind, not just a sequel to have a sequel.

But even though the story of what happened to Zaros is pretty much complete, we could get something Zaros-related with the Archeology skill, and a Zaros quest could come out of that ( @Dilbert2001 thinks it could tie into Digsite excavation. I would wait a few years to do this though, the Zaros storyline risks being overdone.

Skillcape Quest:
What exactly would this be? I have no idea of how this could be executed, except as comic relief. That said, I find a lot of RS comic relief to be cringe-worthy, although
Gower Quest
was decent. Probably should be a break between more serious quests?

Return of King Valliance / White Knight Finale:
In truth, these seem really similar. We still need to access Temple Knight HQ, although there is no real pressing need. Medium priority?

Origins of Zaros:
I thought we also covered this in
Fate of the Gods
. But if we're going to trace Zaros's path the same way we traced Guthix's, a quest with new areas is better than engrams. Just remember "show, not tell". We don't need more lore books

Menaphos Finale:
This is much needed. Menaphos implementation was a big snafu in my opinion: it's hard to navigate, and the Soul Altar was plopped into the game without proper introduction. Again though, this is the kind of this that really shouldn't be rushed, and should probably receive a couple years of storyboarding. Needs a complicated plot-line comparable to OSRS's Song of the Elves in order to fix Menaphos in a single quest. A lot needs to happen.

Breaking History:
Should be used to explain why players can do 6th Age quests before the 5th Age ones. There is potential here, but I found the last quest that used the enchanted key,
The Light Within
, a bit cheezy in how the timetravel worked. Please no silly paradoxes like in
Back to the Freezer
.

Back to the God Wars:
Timetravel is generally bad, and RS3 has problem with time in particular. But if gives us a good chance to investigate the flail that Meg heard about. Make sure all of the mods are agreed what the 3rd age looked like though: this has a lot of potential for plotholes if done wrong.

Who is the Raptor:
The Raptor needs to do something that makes him a central character in order for his identity to matter much. Just killing stuff is too mundane.
Xeric
could make the Raptor relevant though, as that has been almost completely untouched in RS3. (Still, the magical application might make Xeric more of Ariane's department)

Riders of the Apocalypse:
These guys suffer the same problem as the Raptor as the just aren't that relevant to anything; although that could be changed with the
Elder God Storyline
or Xeric. Or it could just be a comedic quest, but this misses out on a golden opportunity to explore some planar theory.

Araxxor Quest:
Since this scored relatively low, but still over 50% there are a few options on the table. If its just lore people want, this could come in a lore book dropped by Araxxor. However, there certainly is potential here for a good story, with access to Slepe as a potential reward.

One of a Kind 2:
I thought that this was the Desperate Times quest, although it would be interesting to go to Iaia. Has the potential to be good, and introduce things that no one has ever heard of.

Pilgrimage of Guthix:
Tracing the engrams I assume? I personally like the idea, as the Memories of Guthix D&D left quite a bit to be desired. Still, a lot of lore has come out about Guthix lately. Wait a few years or it will risk being too much too soon, but certainly a good idea. This is probably going to take a lot of development time (to develop all of the new areas), so seems more like a long-term project.

Thok Quest:
Thok has enough lore about him for now, shelve this idea until he becomes relevant again.

Sons of V:
Tracing V's pilgrimage could be good, but something (maybe Queen of Ashes) has to necessitate this. I don't think this needs to be a quest on it's own.

On the other hands, if we just want to focus on V's sons, then
Xeric's
actions could also be used as a catalyst.
