Interesting: Unless I'm overlooking a critical detail--it looks like Runescape Remastered is most likely to be it's own game, rather than part of Runescape, unless the whole "Unannounced MMO" is a diversion, which is certainly possible.
Jagex is unlikely to end the 6th age in an apocalypse that destroys everything, as it would waste all of the years of development time that went into RS3, and destroy all the years of effort that went into RS3. Although that progress could theoretically be ported into RS remastered, (assuming RS remastered was a separate game) doing so seems illogical.
However, in this model, it would make sense for Riders of the Apocalypse to be the last quest in RS3 before we head into remastered, which means the release date is probably in the next 5 years. Realistically, I don't see anyway Jagex can sink more than 2 years into a project before needing that project to generate revenue...
Have you looked into the possibility of the "Unannounced MMO" being Stellar Dawn, finally becoming unshelved? (Or even Stellar Dawn being fused into RS?)
